である。したがって、第1支持部34と第2支持部40との間隔(h1+h2)の拡大分は、

であり、第2接触部38の高さの増加分は、

である。第1接触部32及び第2接触部38の高さの増加分の合計は、

=α(T−t)(h10+h20)
である。
α(T−t)(h10+h20)=α(T−t)(h1+h2)
であれば、押圧具26による押圧力は、温度にかかわらず一定である。しかし、図6から明らかなように、第1接触部32及び第2接触部38の高さの合計(h10+h20)は、第1支持部34と第2支持部40との間隔(h1+h2)よりも、液晶表示パネル10の厚み分だけ小さい。したがって、温度がt℃からT℃に上昇したときに、
α(T−t)(h10+h20)<α(T−t)(h1+h2)
となり、押圧具26による押圧力が弱くなって、第2基板14を押えることによる効果が薄くなる。
β(T−t)(h10+h20)=α(T−t)(h1+h2)
であれば、押圧具26による押圧力を、温度にかかわらず一定にすることができる。
図8(A)は変形例に係る第1押圧具の平面図であり、図8(B)は変形例に係る第1押圧具の正面図である。図9(A)は変形例に係る第2押圧具の平面図であり、図9(B)は変形例に係る第2押圧具の正面図である。
Claims (5)
- シール材によって固定された第1基板及び第2基板を有し、前記第1基板及び前記第2基板の間に液晶が封入された、湾曲した液晶表示パネルと、
前記第1基板及び前記第2基板を、相互に接近する方向に押圧する押圧具と、
を有し、
前記液晶表示パネルは、表面上に直線を含み、前記直線に平行な軸の周りを囲む曲線に沿って湾曲し、
前記シール材は、前記直線に沿って延びることで湾曲しない非湾曲部と、前記曲線に沿って延びることで湾曲する湾曲部と、を有し、
前記押圧具は、前記第1基板に接触する複数の第1接触部と、前記第2基板に接触する複数の第2接触部と、前記複数の第1接触部及び前記複数の第2接触部を支持する支持部と、を含み、前記シール材の前記非湾曲部と前記液晶表示パネルの表示領域との間の領域で、前記第1基板及び前記第2基板を押圧することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載された液晶表示装置において、
前記複数の第1接触部及び前記複数の第2接触部のそれぞれは、突起の形状であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載された液晶表示装置において、
前記複数の第1接触部及び前記複数の第2接触部のそれぞれは、凸条の形状であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載された液晶表示装置において、
前記支持部は、前記複数の第1接触部を介して前記第1基板と対向する第1支持部と、前記複数の第2接触部を介して前記第2基板と対向する第2支持部と、前記第1支持部及び前記第2支持部を相互に接近する方向への押圧力を以て連結する連結部と、を含み、
前記複数の第1接触部及び前記複数の第2接触部の熱膨張率は、前記連結部の熱膨張率よりも大きいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1から4のいずれか1項に記載された液晶表示装置において、
前記液晶表示パネルに取り付けられたフレキシブル配線基板をさらに有し、
前記押圧具は、前記フレキシブル配線基板を押圧しないように避ける穴を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
