[サブピクセルレンダリンスシステム]
先に参照され、同一出願人に所有される‘353号出願において以前に開示されたように、以前のシステムは、人視覚系(Human Vision System)の特性を利用し、「知覚符号化」を用いた帯域幅低減に焦点を当てている。このタイプの符号化は、画像キャプチャと画像ディスプレイの間で、「視覚的に損失はない」が、数学的に損失のある圧縮を生成する。しかし、画像は、物理的な表示デバイスに送出される直前に、復号されて従来のデータセットに戻される。
[サブピクセル描画方法]
図1は、図7の電子カラーディスプレイ10のための、サブピクセルの配置構成上に重ね合わされたNew Times Romanフォントで理想化された「w」キャラクタ11の輪郭を示す。輪郭の上で、「w」が描画される。サブピクセル配置構成について、他のフォントが使用されてもよく、このフォントおよび文字を選択するのは、具体的に示すためだけである。このサブピクセル配置構成は、格子縞模様で、赤サブピクセル12および緑サブピクセル16を有する反復サブピクセルグループ18を含み、青サブピクセル14が中心にある。この特定のサブピクセル配置構成は、先に参照され、同一出願人に所有される‘232号出願にさらに開示されている。

その後、リサンプルされたデータの残りの結果の残りと加算される。これは、図7に示すディスプレイなどの適した電子カラーディスプレイに対して、先に参照され、同一出願人に所有される出願のいくつかに記載された、他のアルゴリズム段によっておそらくは修正された出力値として使用される。
[画像データストリームに対して、符号化された事前にサブピクセル描画されたデータ]
画像のサブピクセル描画は、図7に述べた方法で処理され、即座に表示されることができるが、後で表示するために、サブピクセル描画後に画像を記憶することが望ましいことがある。直接の第2データ経路85の代わりに、サブピクセル描画手段70と電子ディスプレイ10の間に記憶および/または送信手段が挿入されてもよい。サブピクセル描画操作後の画像の記憶および送信は、従来のデータセットを記憶し、送信し、その後、所望のサブピクセル描画ルーチンを実施するよりも利点を有する。たとえば、サブピクセル描画されたデータセットは、それを生成した従来の画像データセットの記憶空間および/または送信帯域幅に比べて半分またはさらにそれより少ない量を必要とする場合がある。こうして作成され、記憶され、かつ/または、送信されたサブピクセル描画されたデータセットは、「事前にサブピクセル描画された画像」として規定される。
Claims (4)
- 第2の画像データセット及び第3の画像データセットを含む第1の画像データセットを第1のサブピクセル配置構成レイアウトを含む画像表示デバイスへ送信する方法であって、前記第2の画像データセットはサブピクセル描画されていない画像データを含み、前記第2の画像データセットは第2のサブピクセル配置構成レイアウトに対応し、前記第3の画像データセットはサブピクセル描画されている画像データを含み、前記第3の画像データセットは前記第1のサブピクセル配置構成レイアウトに対応し、さらに前記第1のサブピクセル配置構成レイアウトは前記第2のサブピクセル配置構成レイアウトとは異なり、
前記第3の画像データセットを作成するために画像データをサブピクセル描画すること、前記第1の画像データセットを構成するために、前記第2の画像データセットを前記第3の画像データセットに組み込むこと、及び
前記第1の画像データセットを、前記画像表示デバイスへ送信することを含み、
前記第1の画像データセットを作成するために、前記第2の画像データセットを前記第3の画像データセットに組み込む段階は、前記第1の画像データセット内の前記第3の画像データセットの位置を示すカラーキーを前記第1の画像データセットに包含することをさらに含む送信方法。 - 前記画像表示デバイスは、前記第3の画像データセットを描画可能なディスプレイを含み、
前記画像表示デバイスに入力される前記第2の画像データセットをサブピクセル描画可能である請求項1に記載の送信方法。 - 前記第2画像データセットは従来データセットを含み、前記第3画像データセットは、前記従来データセットと複数のフィルタカーネルとのドット行列積を含む請求項1に記載の送信方法。
- 前記画像表示デバイスは前記カラーキーを検出可能で、
前記カラーキーを検出するとすぐに、前記画像表示デバイスは前記第3の画像データセットのために、サブピクセル描画を一時停止する請求項1の送信方法。
