Description
このガスセンサ素子は、触媒担持トラップ層に担持したPt(白金)、Pd(パラジウム)及びRh(ロジウム)の貴金属によって被測定ガス中の水素ガスを燃焼させることにより、水素ガスが被測定ガス側電極に到達することを抑制し、ガスセンサの出力ずれを防止するものである。
また、初期の貴金属担持量を予め増やしておき、触媒性能の維持を図るという方法もあるが、この場合には、コストが高くなるという問題がある。
上記貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は、0.2〜2.0μmであり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末全体に対するPt及びPdの合計含有量は、40質量%以上であり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積は、0.9m 2 /g以上であり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末における任意の異なる10点以上の箇所で元素定量分析を行い、上記Pt、Pd及びRhの各元素について含有量(質量%)を測定した場合に、上記各元素における含有量の標準偏差がすべて20質量%以下であることを特徴とする貴金属触媒粉末にある(請求項1)。
上記貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は、0.2〜2.0μmであり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末における任意の異なる10点以上の箇所で元素定量分析を行い、上記Pt及びPdの各元素について含有量(質量%)を測定した場合に、上記各元素における含有量の標準偏差がすべて20質量%以下であることを特徴とする貴金属触媒粉末にある。
上記多孔質拡散抵抗層に上記被測定ガスを導入する経路には、上記第1の発明の貴金属触媒粉末が配置されていることを特徴とするガスセンサ素子にある(請求項2)。
上記貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径が0.2μm未満の場合には、高温時において上記貴金属合金粒子における貴金属の蒸散が生じ易くなる。一方、上記平均粒径が2.0μmを超える場合には、上記貴金属合金粒子の表面に露出するPtの面積が減少するため、触媒性能が低下してしまう。
Pt、Pd及びRhの少なくともいずれかの元素において含有量の標準偏差が20質量%を超える場合には、高温時において上記貴金属合金粒子における貴金属の蒸散を十分に抑制することができない。
また、上記各元素における含有量の標準偏差は、貴金属の蒸散を抑制する効果を十分に発揮するために5.0質量%以下であることがより好ましい。
この場合には、Ptの有する触媒性能及びPdの有する耐酸化性能(酸化雰囲気中における安定化)を十分に発揮することができる。
上記貴金属触媒粉末全体に対するPt及びPdの合計含有量が40質量%未満の場合には、Pt及びPdの上記性能を十分に発揮することができないおそれがある。そのため、上記貴金属触媒粉末の耐久性向上という本発明の効果を十分に発揮することができないおそれがある。
上記貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径が0.2μm未満の場合には、上記第1の発明と同様に、高温時において上記貴金属合金粒子における貴金属の蒸散が生じ易くなる。一方、上記平均粒径が2.0μmを超える場合には、上記第1の発明と同様に、上記貴金属合金粒子の表面に露出するPtの面積が減少するため、触媒性能が低下してしまう。
Pt及びPdの少なくともいずれかの元素において含有量の標準偏差が20質量%を超える場合には、上記第1の発明と同様に、高温時において上記貴金属合金粒子における貴金属の蒸散を十分に抑制することができない。
また、上記各元素における含有量の標準偏差は、貴金属の蒸散を抑制する効果を十分に発揮するために5.0質量%以下であることがより好ましい。
この場合には、上記貴金属触媒粉末における各元素の組成及びそのばらつきを精度良く定量化することができる。
この場合には、触媒性能を十分に発揮することができる。また、高温時において上記貴金属合金粒子における貴金属の蒸散が生じて多少の比表面積の低下があったとしても、触媒性能を発揮するために必要な比表面積を十分に確保することができる。そのため、耐久性を向上させるという本発明の効果を十分に発揮することができる。
また、上記貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積は、高温時においても触媒性能を十分に発揮するために10m2/g以上であることがより好ましい。また、上記貴金属触媒粉末の製造上の問題から35m2/g以下であることが好ましい。
例えば、上記多孔質拡散抵抗層における上記被測定ガスを導入する外表面に、上記貴金属触媒粉末をアルミナ等の金属酸化物粒子に担持させた層を設けることによって実現することができる。また、その他の構成によって上記貴金属触媒粉末を配置することもできる。
本発明の実施例にかかる貴金属触媒粉末について、図を用いて説明する。
本例は、本発明の実施例として貴金属触媒粉末(試料E11)及び比較例としての貴金属触媒粉末(試料C11)を作製し、その触媒性能を評価したものである。
以下、これを詳説する。
具体的には、最終的にPt:45質量%、Pd:45質量%、Rh:10質量%の組成となるように塩化白金酸、塩化パラジウム、塩化ロジウムを混合した溶液に反応試薬を加え、貴金属触媒粉末を作製した。
本例では、各元素の含有量の標準偏差は、Pt:3.6質量%、Pd:3.4質量%、Rh:2.0質量%であった。また、貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は、0.42μmであった。
本例では、各元素の含有量の標準偏差は、Pt:32.0質量%、Pd:28.0質量%、Rh:4.0質量%であった。また、貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は、1.7μmであった。
下記の表1に試料E11の例を示す。この例は、貴金属触媒粉末における任意の異なる10点において元素分析を行ったものである。なお、貴金属触媒粉末には、Pt、Pd、Rhの他に少量のOが含まれている。
なお、本例では、この浄化温度T50を貴金属触媒粉末1の触媒活性温度の基準としている。後述する実施例2〜5においても同様である。
図3は、貴金属触媒粉末の温度(触媒温度)(℃)と耐久後の水素浄化率(%)との関係を示したものである。
同図からわかるように、本発明の実施例である試料E11は、比較例である試料C11に比べて、触媒温度が低い段階から耐久後の水素浄化率が高い。また、試料E11の耐久後の浄化温度T50は105℃であり、試料C11の345℃に比べて非常に低い。すなわち、試料E11は、貴金属の蒸散を抑制する効果を十分に得ることができ、耐久後においても触媒性能の劣化が小さく、その触媒性能を十分に発揮することができる。
本例の貴金属触媒粉末は、Pt、Pd及びRhを含有する貴金属合金粒子からなる。すなわち、触媒性能に優れたPtを、融点が高く耐熱性に優れ、さらに耐酸化性能(酸化雰囲気中における安定性)に優れたPd及び融点が高く耐熱性に優れたRhと合金化している。そのため、高温・酸化雰囲気において、貴金属触媒粉末における貴金属(特にPt)の蒸散を抑制することができる。
本例は、図4に示すごとく、貴金属触媒粉末の最大標準偏差を変更した場合の触媒性能について調べたものである。なお、最大標準偏差とは、貴金属触媒粉末に含有されている各元素における含有量の標準偏差のうち、最も大きい標準偏差の値のことである。
貴金属触媒粉末は、Pt、Pd及びRhを含有する貴金属合金粒子からなる貴金属触媒粉末であり、その組成はPt:45質量%、Pd:45質量%、Rh:10質量%である。また、貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は0.2〜2.0μmである。
この結果を図4に示す。
同図では、貴金属触媒粉末の最大標準偏差(質量%)に対する耐久後の浄化温度T50(℃)を◆印でプロットし、その近似曲線を曲線G1で表した。
一方、最大標準偏差が20質量%を超える(Pt、Pd及びRhの少なくともいずれかの元素において含有量の標準偏差が20質量%を超える)と、耐久後の浄化温度T50は急激に高くなる。すなわち、貴金属の蒸散を抑制する効果を十分に得ることができず、耐久後において触媒性能の劣化が大きい。
本例は、図5に示すごとく、貴金属触媒粉末における貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径を変更した場合の触媒性能について調べたものである。
各貴金属触媒粉末の組成比、貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は、下記の表2に示すとおりである。また、各元素における含有量の標準偏差は、すべて20質量%以下である。
この結果を表2及び図5に示す。
同図では、貴金属触媒粉末における貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径(μm)に対する耐久後の浄化温度T50(℃)をプロットした。なお、試料21〜26(組成:Pt/Pd/Rh=4.5/4.5/1)を△印、試料27(組成:Pt/Pd=5/5)を○印、試料28(組成:Pt/Pd=9/1)を□印でプロットした。
一方、0.2μm未満及び2.0μmを超える場合(試料21、26、28)には、耐久後の浄化温度T50が200℃を超えている。すなわち、貴金属の蒸散を抑制する効果を十分に得ることができず、耐久後において触媒性能の劣化が大きい。
本例は、図6に示すごとく、貴金属触媒粉末全体に対するPt及びPdの合計含有量を変更した場合の触媒性能について調べたものである。
貴金属触媒粉末は、Pt、Pd及びRhを含有する貴金属合金粒子からなる貴金属触媒粉末である。また、各元素における含有量の標準偏差は、すべて20質量%以下である。また、貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は0.2μmである。
この結果を図6に示す。
同図では、Pt及びPdの合計含有量(質量%)に対する耐久後の浄化温度T50(℃)を□印でプロットし、その近似曲線を曲線G2で表した。
一方、Pt及びPdの合計含有量が40質量%未満では、耐久後の浄化温度T50が急激に高くなり、200℃を超えるようになる。すなわち、Pt及びPdの上記性能を十分に発揮することができない。
本例は、図7に示すごとく、貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積を変更した場合の触媒性能について調べたものである。
貴金属触媒粉末は、Pt、Pd及びRhを含有する貴金属合金粒子からなる貴金属触媒粉末である。また、各貴金属触媒粉末の組成比、比表面積は、下記の表3に示すとおりである。また、各元素における含有量の標準偏差は、すべて20質量%以下である。また、貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は0.2〜2.0μmである。
この結果を表3及び図7に示す。
同図では、貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積(m2/g)に対する耐久後の浄化温度T50(℃)を◆印でプロットし、その近似曲線を曲線G3で表した。
一方、貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積が0.9m2/g未満(試料36)では、耐久後の浄化温度T50が急激に高くなり、200℃を超えるようになる。すなわち、比表面積を十分に確保することができず、触媒性能を十分に発揮することができない。
また、貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積は、実際には、高温時においても触媒性能を十分に発揮するために10m2/g以上であることがより好ましい。また、貴金属触媒粉末の製造上の問題から35m2/g以下であることが好ましい。
本例では、図8〜図10に示すごとく、本発明の貴金属触媒粉末を用いたガスセンサ素子及びそれを内蔵したガスセンサについて説明する。
本例のガスセンサ素子4は、図8に示すごとく、被測定ガス中の酸素濃度に依存した限界電流を計測することにより空燃比を検出するA/Fセンサ(後述するガスセンサ)に内蔵されるものである。
ガスセンサ素子4は、酸素イオン伝導性の固体電解質体41と、固体電解質体41の一方の面と他方の面とにそれぞれ設けた被測定ガス側電極42及び基準ガス側電極43と、被測定ガス側電極42を覆うと共に被測定ガスを透過させる多孔質拡散抵抗層44とを有する。
基準ガス室形成層46における固体電解質体41とは反対側の面には、ヒータ基板47が積層されている。ヒータ基板47には、通電により発熱する発熱体471が基準ガス室形成層46と対面するよう設けられている。
多孔質拡散抵抗層44における固体電解質体41とは反対側の面には、電気的絶縁性を有し、緻密でガスを透過させないアルミナからなる遮蔽層45が積層されている。この遮蔽層45と多孔質拡散抵抗層44の開口部449と固体電解質体41とによって覆われた場所には、被測定ガスである排ガスが導入される被測定ガス室440が形成されている。
図9に示すごとく、触媒層48は、貴金属触媒粉末1(貴金属合金粒子11)が担持されたアルミナ粒子481よりなる。また、保護トラップ層49は、触媒層48に比べて粒径の大きいアルミナ粒子491よりなる。
本例のガスセンサ5は、図10に示すごとく、被測定ガス中の酸素濃度に依存した限界電流を計測することにより空燃比を検出するA/Fセンサである。
ガスセンサ5は、ガスセンサ素子4と、そのガスセンサ素子4を内側に挿通保持する絶縁碍子51と、絶縁碍子51を内側に挿通保持するハウジング52と、ハウジング52の後端側に配設された大気側カバー53と、ハウジング52の先端側に配設されると共にガスセンサ素子4を保護する素子カバー54とを有する。
なお、ここでの「先端側」とは、ガスセンサ5において、排気管などに挿入する側をいい、その反対側を「後端側」という。
本例のガスセンサ素子4は、被測定ガスを導入する経路に本発明の貴金属触媒粉末1が配置されている。そして、貴金属触媒粉末1は、耐熱性・耐久性に優れ、触媒性能を長期間にわたって十分に発揮することができるものである。そのため、被測定ガス中の水素ガスを貴金属触媒粉末1の触媒性能によって十分に燃焼させ、またその触媒性能を維持することができ、水素ガスに起因する出力ずれを長期間にわたって確実に防止することができる。これにより、ガスセンサ素子4は、耐久性に優れ、信頼性の高いものとなる。
11 貴金属合金粒子
Claims (3)
- Pt、Pd及びRhを含有する貴金属合金粒子からなる貴金属触媒粉末であって、
上記貴金属合金粒子の平均粒径は、0.2〜2.0μmであり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末全体に対するPt及びPdの合計含有量は、40質量%以上であり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末の比表面積は、0.9m 2 /g以上であり、
上記貴金属触媒粉末における任意の異なる10点以上の箇所で元素定量分析を行い、上記Pt、Pd及びRhの各元素について含有量(質量%)を測定した場合に、上記各元素における含有量の標準偏差がすべて20質量%以下であることを特徴とする貴金属触媒粉末。 - 酸素イオン伝導性の固体電解質体と、該固体電解質体の一方の面と他方の面とにそれぞれ設けた被測定ガス側電極及び基準ガス側電極と、上記被測定ガス側電極を覆うと共に被測定ガスを透過させる多孔質拡散抵抗層とを有するガスセンサ素子であって、
上記多孔質拡散抵抗層に上記被測定ガスを導入する経路には、請求項1に記載の貴金属触媒粉末が配置されていることを特徴とするガスセンサ素子。 - 請求項2に記載のガスセンサ素子を内蔵し、上記被測定ガス中の特定ガス濃度を検出することを特徴とするガスセンサ。
