Claims (10)
- 複数の画素を有するマトリクスディスプレイデバイスであって、各々の画素は、電極間の流体中の複数の粒子の移動により規定される光学状態を有し、前記複数の粒子の移動は、駆動電圧の値、前記駆動電圧の極性及び駆動期間に依存する、マトリクスディスプレイデバイス;
第1時間における第1光学状態から第2時間における第2光学状態に前記複数の画素を駆動するように、前記複数の画素に駆動波長を供給するドライバであって、前記駆動波長は、複数の連続駆動期間に供給される一連の駆動電圧の値を有し、前記駆動期間は複数のサブフィールドを有する、ドライバ;
前記駆動波長を制御する制御器を有するDCバランス化回路であって、前記第1時間において印加された駆動電圧の値と駆動電圧の極性と駆動期間との積に依存する値を0とするために、前記第1時間から前記第2時間への切り換え時に、該積に依存する値と反対の値を有する駆動電圧の値と駆動電圧の極性と駆動期間との積に依存する値を印加する、DCバランス化回路;及び
サブフィールドモードで前記マトリクスディスプレイデバイスを駆動する制御回路であって、駆動期間は所定数のサブフィールドを有し、前記複数の画素のうちの特定の画素の階調は特定数のサブフィールドにより決定され、特定の駆動電圧が特定の駆動期間中に前記特定の画素において存在し、前記駆動期間は特定数のサブフィールドである、制御回路;
を有する表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって:
前記DCバランス化回路は、前記駆動電圧の値と前記駆動電圧の極性と前記駆動期間との積の和を記憶するメモリを有する;
表示装置。 - 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって、前記制御器は、前記和の絶対値を閾値と比較するように設定され、前記制御器は、前記和の前記絶対値が前記閾値を上回る場合に、前記複数の画素にリセットパルスを供給するように前記ドライバを制御する、表示装置。
- 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって、当該表示装置は、前記複数の画素の温度を検知する温度センサを更に有し、前記制御器は前記温度に基づいて前記和を修正するように設定されている、表示装置。
- 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって、前記制御器は前記駆動電圧の値に非線形的に依存して前記和を修正するように設定されている、表示装置。
- 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって:
前記複数の画素の一の画素の所望のカラー化は、該所望のカラー化を得るために必要な初期時間期間の後の、所定の駆動電圧の持続時間に実質的に依存せず;
前記制御器は、前記所定の駆動電圧の極性が画素に印加された電圧の和の極性と逆である場合に、前記初期時間期間より長くなるように前記所定の駆動電圧の前記持続時間を制御するように設定されている;
表示装置。 - 請求項6に記載の表示装置であって、前記初期時間期間の後に、前記の画素に印加された電圧の和の極性が変わる場合に、前記制御器は、前記初期時間期間より長くならないように前記所定の駆動電圧の前記持続時間を制御するように設定されている、表示装置。
- 請求項6に記載の表示装置であって、前記所定の駆動電圧の前記極性と前記の画素に印加された電圧の和の極性とが同じである場合に、前記制御器は、前記初期時間期間に実質的に等しい前記所定の駆動電圧の前記持続時間を制御するように設定されている、表示装置。
- 請求項6に記載の表示装置であって:
当該表示装置は電気泳動ディスプレイであり;
前記画素は、一対の基板の一の基板に形成された1つのスイッチング電極と、前記一対の基板の他の基板に形成された1つのスイッチング電極と、前記一対の基板の一の基板に形成された更なる電極とを有し、前記ドライバは、前記画素の光学状態を制御するように、前記2つのスイッチング電極及び前記更なる電極に前記駆動電圧を供給するように設定されている、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、当該表示装置は電気泳動ディスプレイである、表示装置。
