Claims (13)
- 画素を有するマトリクスディスプレイデバイスであって、画素の光学状態は駆動電圧が前記画素に印加される駆動期間の持続時間並びに/若しくは前記駆動電圧の値及び極性に依存する電極間の流体中を移動する粒子により規定される、マトリクスディスプレイデバイス;
対応する連続駆動期間の間に前記画素に印加される駆動電圧のシーケンスを供給するためのドライバ;並びに
時間平均値の実質的に0値を得るために、前記マトリクスディスプレイデバイスの各々の画素に対して、各々の画素に対する持続時間及び/又は前記値に適合するように画素の各々のサブグループに対して又は画素の各々のサブグループに対して時間平均値を決定するための制御器を有するDCバランス化回路;
を有することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記DCバランス化回路は更にメモリを有し、前記制御器はメモリにおいて合計するように適合され、各々の駆動期間に対して、数は前記画素に前記駆動期間の間に加えられる前記駆動電圧の前記値と前記駆動期間の前記持続時間との乗算を示し、できるだけ0に近い前記数の値を得るために前記駆動期間の持続時間及び/又は駆動電圧の値に適合するように、前記数は時間平均値である、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、フィールドが所定数のサブフィールドを有するサブフィールドモードで前記マトリクスディスプレイデバイスを駆動するための制御回路を更に有し、前記画素の特定の1つの階調は特定のフィールドの間に特定の画素に印加される特定の駆動電圧を特定のサブフィールドの数により決定され、前記駆動期間は前記の特定のサブフィールドの前記持続時間である、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって、前記制御器は、この特定の画素に対する前記数の絶対値又は画素の特定のサブグループそれぞれが閾値数を上回る場合、画素のこの特定のサブグループ又は前記画素の特定の1つにリセットパルスを供給するために前記閾値数と前記数の絶対値を比べるために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって、前記画素の温度を検出するための温度センサを更に有し、前記制御器は温度に依存して前記数を変更するために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項2に記載の表示装置であって、前記制御器は前記駆動電圧の値に非線形的に依存して前記数を変更するために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記画素の所望のカラー化は、前記の所望のカラー化を得るために必要な初期期間の後、前記駆動期間の持続時間に実質的に依存せず、前記制御器は、前記駆動電圧の特定の極性が支配的であることを前記数が示す場合、初期持続時間より長い現時点の駆動期間の持続時間を制御するために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項7に記載の表示装置であって、前記初期持続時間が前記数の符号を変えるようにする場合、前記制御器は前記初期持続時間より長くならないように前記の現時点の駆動期間の前記持続時間を制御するために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項7に記載の表示装置であって、前記の支配的な駆動電圧の特定の極性と現時点の駆動電圧の極性とが同じであることを前記数が示す場合、前記制御器は前記初期期間に実質的に等しい前記の現時点の駆動期間の前記持続時間を制御するために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項7に記載の表示装置であって、該表示装置は電気泳動ディスプレイであり、前記画素は2つのスイッチング電極と更なる電極とを有し、前記ドライバは前記2つのスイッチング電極に前記駆動電圧を供給するために適合され、前記の更なる電極は前記画素の中間光学状態を制御する、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項7に記載の表示装置であって、該表示装置は電気泳動ディスプレイであり、前記画素は少なくとも2つの電極を有し、前記ドライバは、通常駆動電圧が印加される駆動期間の持続時間を変えることにより階調を設定する前記の通常駆動電圧より小さい駆動電圧を与えることにより前記画素の階調を設定するための少なくとも2つの電極の間に前記駆動電圧を印加するために適合されている、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、該表示装置は電気泳動ディスプレイである、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 画素を有するマトリクスディスプレイデバイスを駆動する方法であって、画素の光学状態は駆動電圧が該画素に印加される駆動期間の持続時間及び/又は前記駆動電圧の値及び極性に依存する電極間の流体中を移動する粒子により規定される方法であり:
対応する連続駆動期間の間に前記画素に印加される駆動電圧のシーケンスを供給する段階;並びに
時間平均値の実質的に0値を得るために、前記マトリクスディスプレイデバイスの各々の画素に対して、各々の画素に対する持続時間及び/又は前記値に適合するように画素の各々のサブグループに対して又は画素の各々のサブグループに対して時間平均値を決定する段階;
を有することを特徴とする方法。
