Description
昆虫およびその他の有害生物のために、農家は年間10億ドルもの農作物の損失およびこれらの有害生物を制御するための出費を要する。農業生産環境において害虫によって引き起こされた損失には、農作物の収穫高の減少、農作物の品質の低下、および収穫にかかる費用の増加が含まれる。

配列番号:1は、80JJ1-15-PO5として示される遺伝子のポリヌクレオチド配列であり、トウモロコシにおいて最も効果的に発現する。この遺伝子は、約15 kDaのタンパク質をコードする。この遺伝子とタンパク質は、国際公開公報第97/40162号に開示された。
本発明は、有害生物、特に植物有害生物の制御に有用な材料および方法に関する。より詳しく述べると、本発明は、殺虫性蛋白質をコードする新規の植物最適化ポリヌクレオチド配列を提供する。本発明のポリヌクレオチド配列は野生型配列と比較して特定の改変を有し、そのためにそれらは植物における最適化された発現に特に適している。本明細書に記載されているポリヌクレチド配列を用いて、当業者に公知の技術により、植物に害虫抵抗性を付与するために植物を形質転換することができる。好ましい態様において、本発明は、約15 kDaおよび約45 kDaの殺虫性タンパク質をコードする、植物において最も効果的に発現するポリヌクレオチド配列を提供する。
本発明の1つの局面は、殺虫性毒素をコードする本ポリヌクレオチド配列によって植物を形質転換することである。形質転換された植物は標的有害生物による攻撃に対して抵抗性である。本発明の遺伝子は植物において用いられるように最適化される。
Claims (4)
- 配列番号:6に示されるヌクレオチド配列を含む改変されたポリヌクレオチド。
- 配列番号:6に示されるヌクレオチド配列を含む改変されたポリヌクレオチドを含む細胞であって、植物細胞または微生物細胞である細胞。
- 植物細胞がトウモロコシの細胞である、請求項2記載の細胞。
- 改変されたポリヌクレオチドを細胞に導入することを含む細胞を生産する方法であって、該ポリヌクレオチドが配列番号:6に示されるヌクレオチド配列を含み、該細胞が植物細胞または微生物細胞である方法。
