この実施例は、相対的な接着性(粘着性)と、いくつかの個体/液体分散の相溶性と説明する(表1)。
この実施例は、複数成分液分散を使用した、侵出の最小化と、最終的な接着剤における十分な強度の維持との両立の実行可能性について実証する。これらの組成物における成分Bの候補は、表1に示したように、液体侵出を防止する能力に基づいて選択される。この実施例における「2酸」は、ドデカン2酸であることに留意されたい。組成物は表3に示す。
を、定性的に融解粘度が高く、それゆえに高分子量であるマレイン酸化ポリエチレン(サンプル2−22及びサンプル2−32)の代わりに用いると、結果として得られる紙接着性は、サンプル2−14(EVAを含む)と同様に良好となる。したがって、重要なのは、補強ポリマー(それだけは液体と不相溶であるポリマー)は、接着性に強度を与えるためには、十分な分子量である必要があるということである。
この実施例では、吸着相が適度な温度で液体分散の保存性を有するという、意外な効果について実証する。実施例2に示すように、ある吸着相の候補は、最小限の浸出及び優れた紙接着を示す最終的な接着剤を生産することが可能である。しかし、これら吸着相の候補の多くは、液分散の保存性に悪影響を与える傾向がある。しかし意外にも、ある吸着相材料は、保存性に悪影響を与えないことが発見されている(本発明の好適な実施形態の特徴である)。
この実施例では、結果として生じる接着剤における混合の効果(そして、利用プロセスにおける効果)を実証する。サンプル2−30は、ホットプレート上で華氏385度に加熱せら、前述した手順に従って混合された。同じ組成物である第2のサンプルは加熱されたが混合されなかった。接着剤クーポンは、相対的な比較のため、両方のケースで用意された。混合されたサンプルは、5回の内5回とも繊維引裂け接着を示した。ところが、混合されていないサンプルは、接着性を示さなかった。混合しない場合、接着剤の結合力は著しく減少する。したがって、この実施例は、本発明に係る接着剤の好ましい塗布方法を実証する。接着剤は予め混合されているか、塗布する過程で混合されなければならない。さもなければ、接着剤は基材と適切に接着しないであろう。
この実施例は、2酸が存在する場合と存在しない場合での、接着剤における温度の効果を実証する。また混合されたカルボン酸添加剤の接着性における効果も実証する。手順は、サンプルが華氏345度、385度、430度で処理されること以外は、実施例2で用いられた手順と同じである。表7はこの実施例に用いる比較される組成物を示し、表8は冷却時の浸出、24時間後の浸出、及び紙接着の結果を表す。侵出の結果は、華氏385度において行われたサンプルで判断されるが、接着性は3つの全ての温度において判断される。
この実施例では、粘性、保存性及び接着性に関しての成分比の効果について説明する。
この実施例では、本発明に係る接着剤組成物内に、熱安定剤及び/又は無機添加剤を使用した場合について説明する。
この実施例は、接着剤の「セットタイム」における液体吸着相の効果を実証する。この実施例における前記セットタイムは、接着剤が溶融液体から個体に変化するのに要する時間と定義する。全ての場合において、1.0gの各組成物が実施例1及び2の手順に従って華氏385度で溶融混合された。サンプルはホットプレートから取り出され、冷却するために、室温でベンチトップに置かれた。接着剤は、「セット開始時間」又は結晶化の徴候の出現(不透明となる徴候の出現を目視でモニタする)に要する時間を、目視でモニタされた。接着剤のセットタイムは、接着剤全体が不透明に見えるのに要する時間として記録された。この時点で、接着剤が個体となったかどうかの観察は、金属製のへらで押すことにより判断される。この実施例の組成物を表13に示す。また、結果を表14に示す。
この実施例では、接着剤の能力に関しての補強相コポリマー組成物の効果について実証する。実施例3では、VAの高いレベル(18%)の酢酸ビニルを含むエチレン・コポリマー(サンプル3−4)は、ポリマー微粒子が鉱物油中に分散したときは、9%VAを含むコポリマーよりも保存性が悪いことを示している。しかし、酢酸ビニルのレベルをより高くすると、特に、さらなるモノマー(例えば、メタクリル酸や無水マレイン酸)をコポリマー化した場合は、本発明の目的に特に役立つポリマーを生成することができる。保存性に関する不利益な影響を考慮して、このタイプのポリマー微粒子は、ポリマー被覆層(温度がある限界値を超えて上昇するまで、液相により浸透されない)によりコーティングする必要がある。このようにして、微粒子のコアは、液相により浸透されず、分散の保存は安定する。そのようなコーティングは、例えば。低レベルの酢酸ビニルを含むエチレン・コポリマー、エチレン及びメタクリル酸のコポリマー、ポリシロキサン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリプロピレン・コポリマーなどであっても良い。
この実施例では、異なる吸着相(ポリカプロラクトン)と異なる液相(フタル酸ジブチル)を使用して、浸出しない固形製品を作成すべく溶融する、保存性が安定した液体分散を作成する可能性について説明する。ポリプロピレン・コ・無水マレイン酸及び鉱物油から作成された組成物と異なり、この実施例の組成物は低レベルの紙の接着性を示した。しかしながら、この結果は、本発明の広い範囲、すなわち適切な吸着相及び液相を選択した場合に、安定した浸出しない固形物が液分散から融合して作成されることを実証する。
この実施例は、用紙の凝集破壊をおこす上限温度及び接着剤の相対的な剛性により判断される、加熱たわみ温度についてのナノ微粒子の影響を実証する。また、この実施例は、混合物の生成方法に関する最終用途の性能における感度を実証する。この実施例の組成物は、華氏385度のホットプレート上で、へらにより1分間溶融混合し、浸出性及び紙の接着性(前述した実施例で説明した方法及び手順に従って)の試験を実施した。紙引裂け試験の事前に、紙の接着性について、様々な設定温度のオーブンで、クーポンの平衡を30分間保たせることにより、高温での評価を行った。
この実施例は更にナノ複合物が生成される方法に対する最終使用の性能の感度をさらに実証する。この実施例の組成物は、華氏385度のホットプレート上で、規定時間へらで溶融混合され、浸出性及び紙の粘着性(前述した実施例で説明した方法と手順に従って)の試験を実施した。紙の粘着性は、紙引裂け試験の事前に、様々な設定温度のオーブンで、クーポンの平衡を30分間保たせることにより、高温での評価を行った。
組成物は、補強相の分子量の効果と、接着性における酢酸ビニルレベルを測定する目的で作成された。全ての組成物は、4.5gの補強相ポリマー、2.0gのE34P吸着相、0.7gのセバシン酸、及び5.0gの鉱物油から作成されている。混合手法は、実施例1及び2で説明した方法と同じである。紙引裂きクーポンも前述した方法により作成した。紙引裂きクーポンは、実施例11と12で説明した手法を使用して、基材の温度が試験された。この実施例で比較されるポリマーを表21に示す。紙引裂け接着と温度の結果を表22に示す。
保存温度の下限を制限する)。また、前述した実施例から分るように、加熱たわみ温度と、接着温度の上限は、分子量及びVA含有量とは無関係に、ナノ微粒子の組込みにより増加する。したがって、組み合わせた場合は、本発明の実施形態は、接着剤に、広範囲のプロセス及び最終用途特性の能力を提供する。
組成物は、ポリプロピレン・ホモポリマーとマレイン酸化ポリプロピレンとの混合物から成る吸着相の効用を説明する目的で作成される。結果は、吸着相がポリプロピレン・ホモポリマーから成る場合は、接着性が得られないことを示している。一方、吸着相を形成すべくマレイン酸化PPをPPと混合した場合は、条件を満たした接着性が得られる。この結果は、好ましい接着剤は、吸着相がマレイン酸化PP又はマレイン酸化PPと混合されたPPから成る接着剤であることを示している。この実施例の組成物は、前述した手法に従って作成され、試験された。組成物の結果を表23に示す。
この実施例の目的は、発泡剤を組み入れることにより、密度が減少することを実証することである。ホットメルト接着剤が多孔性発泡体(cellular foam)として塗布された場合は、所定の接着ビードの体積又は容積を得るのに必要な接着量を減少させることにより、それらは重要な経済的利点をもたらす。例えば、所定のホットメルト接着剤に体積で30%の気体を添加することにより、同じ量の体積を減少させることができる。そのため、ビード当たりのコストを減少させることができる。
Claims (14)
- 接着剤組成物であって、
少なくともエチレン及び酢酸ビニルを含むモノマーから調製されたコポリマー又はターポリマーを含む第1の成分と、
少なくともプロピレン及び無水マレイン酸を含むモノマーから調製されたコポリマーを含む第2の成分と、
室温で液状である無反応性の炭化水素を含む第3の成分とを含み、
該接着剤組成物は、(i)室温から華氏140度までの温度で保存された場合には液分散の形態であり、(ii)華氏300度より高温に加熱され混合された場合には前記第1及び第2の成分が溶融混合物を形成し、(iii)該溶融混合物が加熱された後に華氏140度未満の温度まで冷却された場合には固形接着剤の状態をとる接着剤組成物。 - 前記液分散は、前記第3の成分中に分散する、前記第1の成分からなる離散的な固体粒子及び前記第2の成分からなる離散的な固体粒子からなる請求項1に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記第1の成分は、ポリ(エチレン・コ・ビニルアセテート)コポリマー、ポリ(エチレン・コ・ビニルアセテート・コ・メタクリル酸)ターポリマー、ポリ(エチレン・コ・ビニルアセテート・コ・無水マレイン酸)ターポリマー、あるいはそれらの混合物を含む請求項1に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記第2の成分は、ポリ(プロピレン・コ・無水マレイン酸)コポリマーである請求項1に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記ポリ(プロピレン・コ・無水マレイン酸)コポリマーは、ポリプロピレンホモポリマー、ペンタエリスリトール・ロジン・エステル又はそれらの混合物と混合されている請求項4に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記第3の成分は、鉱物油、植物油、又はそれらの混合物を含む請求項1に記載の接着剤組成物。
- テルペン樹脂、ロジンエステル派生物、炭化水素をベースにした派生物からなるグループから選択された1以上の粘着付与剤をさらに含む請求項1に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記1以上の粘着付与剤が前記第2の成分と混合されているか、又は前記第3の成分に溶解した請求項7に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記第1の成分は、ポリ(エチレン・コ・ビニルアセテート)コポリマー、ポリ(エチレン・コ・ビニルアセテート・コ・メタクリル酸)ターポリマー、ポリ(エチレン・コ・ビニルアセテート・コ・無水マレイン酸)ターポリマー、又はそれらの混合物を含み、
前記第2の成分は、ポリ(プロピレン・コ・無水マレイン酸)コポリマーを含み、
前記第3の成分は、鉱物油、大豆油、又はそれらの混合物を含む、
請求項1に記載の接着剤組成物。 - 前記ポリ(プロピレン・コ・無水マレイン酸)コポリマーは、ポリプロピレンホモポリマー、ペンタエリスリトール・ロジン・エステル、又はそれらの混合物と混合される請求項9に記載の接着剤組成物。
- セバシン酸及びドデカン2酸からなるグループから選択されたジカルボン酸を含む活性剤をさらに含む請求項9に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 熱によって活性化される発泡剤及び/又は炭酸カルシウムをさらに含む請求項9に記載の接着剤組成物。
- ナノ粒子凝集体をさらに含む請求項9に記載の接着剤組成物。
- 前記ナノ粒子凝集体は、前記液分散が華氏300度より高温に加熱され混合されると、剥離する請求項13に記載の接着剤組成物。
