Description
非水溶媒がハロゲン化ベンゼン類0.1〜15重量%を含み、かつ非水溶媒中に不純物として含まれるアミノ化ベンゼン類の含有量が100ppm未満であり、ビニレンカーボネート、1,3−プロパンスルトン、無水スルホ安息香酸、ジビニルスルホン、3−ヒドロキシ−1−プロペンスルホン酸−γ−スルトンから選択される少なくとも1種を0.1〜3重量%含有することを特徴とする非水電解質である。
本発明の非水電解質は、非水溶媒と電解質とを含み、非水溶媒がハロゲン化ベンゼン類および不純物としてアミノ化ベンゼン類を含み、非水溶媒におけるアミノ化ベンゼン類の含有量が100ppm未満であることを特徴とする。
ハロゲン化ベンゼン類の非水溶媒における含有量は特に制限されないけれども、好ましくは非水溶媒全量の0.1〜15重量%、さらに好ましくは0.5〜10重量%、特に好ましくは1〜8重量%である。
カーボネート類の非水溶媒における含有量は特に制限されないけれども、好ましくはエチレンカーボネートの含有量が非水溶媒全量の19.9〜59.9重量%、さらに好ましくは25〜50重量%、特に好ましくは25〜45重量%である。19.9重量%を大きく下回ると、本発明の非水電解質を含む二次電池において、特に高温環境下での負極と非水電解質との反応を抑えられなくなる虞がある。また、59.9重量%を大幅に超えると、低温で固化しやすくなるなどの問題が起こる虞がある。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池は、正極と、負極と、本発明の非水電解質とを含むことを特徴とする。
正極活物質としてはこの分野で常用されるものを使用でき、たとえば、二酸化マンガン、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物、リチウム含有ニッケル酸化物、リチウム含有コバルト酸化物、リチウム含有ニッケルコバルト酸化物、リチウム含有鉄酸化物、リチウムを含むバナジウム酸化物などの金属酸化物、二硫化チタン、二硫化モリブデンなどのカルコゲン化合物などが挙げられる。中でも、リチウム含有コバルト酸化物(たとえばLiCoO2)、リチウム含有ニッケルコバルト酸化物(たとえばLiNi0.8Co0.2O2)、リチウムマンガン複合酸化物(たとえばLiMn2O4、LiMnO2)を用いると、高電圧が得られるために好ましい。正極活物質は1種を単独で使用できまたは2種以上を併用できる。
集電体としては、この分野で常用されるものを使用でき、たとえば、導電性基板などが挙げられる。導電性基板を構成する金属としては、たとえば、銅、ステンレス鋼、ニッケルなどが挙げられる。導電性基板は、多孔質構造でもよくまたは無孔のものでもよい。
負極活物質としては、リチウムイオンを吸蔵・放出する材料を使用でき、たとえば、黒鉛、コークス、炭素繊維、球状炭素、熱分解気相炭素質物、樹脂焼成体などの黒鉛質材料もしくは炭素質材料、熱硬化性樹脂、等方性ピッチ、メソフェーズピッチ系炭素、メソフェーズピッチ系炭素繊維、メソフェーズ小球体など(特に、メソフェーズピッチ系炭素繊維が容量や充放電サイクル特性が高くなり好ましい)を500〜3000℃で熱処理することにより得られる黒鉛質材料もしくは炭素質材料、二硫化チタン、二硫化モリブデン、セレン化ニオブなどのカルコゲン化合物、アルミニウム、アルミニウム合金、マグネシウム合金、リチウム、リチウム合金などの軽金属もしくはその合金などが挙げられる。中でも、(002)面の面間隔d002が好ましくは0.34nm以下、さらに好ましくは0.337nm以下である黒鉛結晶を含む黒鉛質材料が望ましい。このような黒鉛質材料を負極活物質として含む負極を備える非水電解質二次電池は、電池容量および大電流放電特性が大幅に向上する。負極活物質は1種を単独で使用できまたは2種以上を併用できる。
蓋板4は、外部保護層7、内部保護層8および、外部保護層7と内部保護層8との間に配置される金属層9とを含むラミネートフィルムにより形成される。ラミネートフィルムとしては、容器本体2のラミネートフィルムと同様のものを使用できる。
(実施例1)
<正極の作製>
リチウムコバルト酸化物(LixCoO2;但し、Xは0<X≦1である)粉末90重量部に、アセチレンブラック5重量部と、ポリフッ化ビニリデン5重量部のジメチルホルムアミド溶液とを加えて混合し、スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを厚さ15μmのアルミニウム箔(正極集電体)の両面に塗布し、乾燥し、プレスすることにより、厚さ60μmの正極層が集電体の両面に担持された構造の正極を作製した。
炭素質材料として3000℃で熱処理したメソフェーズピッチ系炭素繊維(粉末X線回折により求められる(002)面の面間隔(d002)が0.336nm)の粉末を95重量部と、ポリフッ化ビニリデン5重量部のジメチルホルムアミド溶液とを混合し、スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを厚さ12μmの銅箔(負極集電体)の両面に塗布し、乾燥し、プレスすることにより、厚さ55μmの負極層が集電体の両面に担持された構造の負極を作製した。
厚さ25μm、多孔度45%の微多孔性ポリエチレン膜を使用した。
正極集電体に帯状アルミニウム箔(厚さ100μm)からなる正極リードを超音波溶接し、負極集電体に帯状ニッケル箔(厚さ100μm)からなる負極リードを超音波溶接した後、正極および負極をその間にセパレータを介して渦巻き状に捲回し、電極群を作製した。この電極群を加熱下にプレス機で加圧することにより、偏平状に成形した。
エチレンカーボネート(EC)、γ−ブチロラクトン(GBL)、o−クロロトルエン(o−CT;対金属リチウムでの酸化電位4.8V)およびトリス(トリオクチル)ホスフェートを重量比率(EC:GBL:o−CT:TOP)が35:59.5:5:0.5になるように混合して非水溶媒を調製した。得られた非水溶媒に四フッ化ホウ酸リチウム(LiBF4)をその濃度が1.5モル/Lになるように溶解させて、本発明の非水電解液を調製した。なお、ガスクロマトグラフ分析の結果から、非水溶媒は、アミノ化ベンゼン類として2−アミノトルエンを含有し、その含有量は30ppm以下であった。
アルミニウム箔の両面をポリエチレンで覆った厚さ100μmのラミネートフィルムを、プレス機により矩形のカップ状に成形し、得られた容器内に電極群を収納した。
非水溶媒の組成およびアミノ化ベンゼン類の含有量を、表1に示すように変更する以外は、実施例1と同様にして非水電解質二次電池を製造した。

実施例1〜22および比較例1〜11で得られた非水電解質二次電池の各10個ずつについて、過充電試験を行った。過充電試験は、電流値2Cで充電を続け、その際に異常な発熱または発火を生じた非水電解質二次電池の数を記録するものである。異常な発熱または発火を生じた電池個数の全体に占める割合(異常発熱発生率、%)を表1に示す。

Claims (7)
- 非水溶媒および電解質を含有する非水電解質において、
非水溶媒がハロゲン化ベンゼン類0.1〜15重量%を含み、かつ非水溶媒中に不純物として含まれるアミノ化ベンゼン類の含有量が100ppm未満であり、ビニレンカーボネート、1,3−プロパンスルトン、無水スルホ安息香酸、ジビニルスルホン、3−ヒドロキシ−1−プロペンスルホン酸−γ−スルトンから選択される少なくとも1種を0.1〜3重量%含有することを特徴とする非水電解質。 - 非水溶媒が、ハロゲン化ベンゼン類とともに、カーボネート類および/またはγ−ブチロラクトンを含有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の非水電解質。
- ハロゲン化ベンゼン類が、塩素原子および/またはフッ素原子を1または2以上有するハロゲン化トルエンおよびハロゲン化キシレンから選ばれる少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の非水電解質。
- ハロゲン化ベンゼン類が、o−クロロトルエン、p−クロロトルエンおよびo−フルオロトルエンから選ばれる少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の非水電解質。
- アミノ化ベンゼン類が、アミノ化トルエンおよびアミノ化キシレンから選ばれる少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の非水電解質。
- アミノ化ベンゼン類が、2−アミノトルエン、4−アミノトルエンおよびアミノキシレンから選ばれる少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の非水電解質。
- 正極と、負極と、請求項1〜6のいずれか1つの非水電解質とを含むことを特徴とする非水電解質二次電池。
