Description
本出願は、両方とも2003年5月15日付けの米国予備出願第60/470,734号及び第60/470,635号の利益を主張する。
技術分野
本発明は、プラズマディスプレイ装置又は他の真空紫外(VUV)励起装置に使用される青色発光蛍光体及びその混合物に関連する。これらの装置は、プラズマディスプレイパネル又は真空紫外励起ランプ等の装置を部分的に含む。プラズマディスプレイパネル又は真空紫外励起ランプ等の装置は、密封された透明構造体で部分的に構成されており、該密封構造体は、希ガスもしくは希ガスの混合物で満たされ、また、赤色発光蛍光体、緑色発光蛍光体又は青色発光蛍光体を含んでいる。高圧電流はガス放電を作り出し、該ガス放電は、一次励起源として真空紫外放射を発する。該VUV放射は、次いで、上記蛍光体を励起して可視光線を放出させる。
CBAL蛍光体は、水酸化アルミニウム、炭酸バリウム、炭酸カルシウム、酸化ユーロピウム、及び、フッ化バリウムもしくはホウ酸を十分に混ぜ、次いで、結果として生じた混合物を、窒素−水素雰囲気(5%水素〜75%水素の範囲で残りは窒素ガス)下の還元炉内において、アルミナもしくはアルミナベースのトレーにて2〜4時間、1400℃〜1600℃で焼成することによって作られ得る。該焼成ケーキは、次に、脱イオン水で洗浄され、378メッシュスクリーンを通じて湿式篩いにかけられるか、又は、湿式篩い分け前に軽く粉砕(製粉)される。該材料は、次いで乾燥させられ、いかなるあり得る凝集体をもばらばらにするため、60メッシュ篩いを通じて乾式篩いにかけられる。CBAL配合(調合)物の限定されない三つの例が以下に列記される。
配合#1は、加速試験のための試料を調製するために用いられた。配合バリエーションは、同様の特性を有する同様の蛍光体を調製するために用いられ得る。

CBAL、cCBAL、cBAM、CBAL−BAM混合物、CBAL−cBAM混合物、CBAL−LaPOT混合物、及びcCBAL−LaPOT混合物の試料は、基準に対する初期強度のための(調整として用いられる)市販入手できるBAM蛍光体の試料と共に測定された。VUV発光スペクトルは、上述したようにパーキンエルマー社のLS−50Bスペクトロメータを用いて集められた。これら試料は、次に、既述したように高温高湿処置を通じて劣化させられ、VUV強度が再測定された。全試料は、実験的に同等の条件下で劣化させられた。同試料は、更に、上記した装置を用いた高強度Xeプラズマ及びVUV光子束に対する露出を通じて劣化させられ、これらのVUV強度が再測定された。

Claims (9)
- 蛍光体コーティングを有する放電室を含むVUV励起装置であって、放電室は、希ガスもしくは希ガス混合物を収容し、蛍光体コーティングは放電室の内側面に塗られ、該装置は、作動時に、一次励起源として真空紫外放射を発する放電を発生させ、蛍光体コーティングは、Ba1.29-x-yCaxEuyAl12O19.29(0<x<0.25及び0.01<y<0.20)で表される組成を有するユーロピウム付活カルシウム置換バリウム・ヘキサアルミン酸塩蛍光体を含み、前記ユーロピウム付活カルシウム置換バリウム・ヘキサアルミン酸塩蛍光体は、オキシ水酸化アルミニウムでコーティングされるVUV励起装置。
- 該装置は147nm〜173nmの波長を有する真空紫外光を発生させる請求項1のVUV励起装置。
- 前記放電室は、キセノンもしくはキセノンとヘリウムの混合物を収容する請求項1のVUV励起装置。
- 前記蛍光体コーティングは、ユーロピウム付活バリウム・マグネシウム・アルミン酸塩、オキシ水酸化アルミニウムでコーティングされたユーロピウム付活バリウム・マグネシウム・アルミン酸塩、及び(Gd,La)PO4:Tm,Liからなる群から選択される蛍光体を更に含む請求項1のVUV励起装置。
- 前記蛍光体コーディングは、(Gd,La)PO4:Tm,Li蛍光体を更に含み、ユーロピウム付活カルシウム置換バリウム・ヘキサアルミン酸塩蛍光体対(Gd,La)PO4:Tm,Li蛍光体の比は、重量で2:1〜20:1の範囲である請求項1のVUV励起装置。
- 青色光を発生させる方法であって、真空紫外放射で青色発光蛍光体を励起させる工程を含み、青色発光蛍光体は、Ba 1.29-x-y Ca x Eu y Al 12 O 19.29 (0<x<0.25及び0.01<y<0.20)で表される組成を有するユーロピウム付活カルシウム置換バリウム・ヘキサアルミン酸塩蛍光体を含み、前記ユーロピウム付活カルシウム置換バリウム・ヘキサアルミン酸塩蛍光体は、オキシ水酸化アルミニウムでコーティングされる方法。
- 147nm〜173nmの波長を有する真空紫外光を発生させる請求項6の方法。
- 前記青色発光蛍光体は、ユーロピウム付活バリウム・マグネシウム・アルミン酸塩、オキシ水酸化アルミニウムでコーティングされたユーロピウム付活バリウム・マグネシウム・アルミン酸塩、及び(Gd,La)PO4:Tm,Liからなる群から選択される蛍光体を更に含む請求項6の方法。
- 前記青色発光蛍光体は、(Gd,La)PO4:Tm,Li蛍光体を更に含み、ユーロピウム付活カルシウム置換バリウム・ヘキサアルミン酸塩蛍光体対(Gd,La)PO4:Tm,Li蛍光体の比は、重量で2:1〜20:1の範囲である請求項6の方法。
