Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明は、プラスチック管を連結するのに使用され、
管との接触面に電熱線を埋設したエレクトロフュージョ
ン継手の融着方法に関する。
従来技術 上下水道やガス管などに多用され始めたプラスチック
管の継手として近年開発されたものにエレクトロフュー
ジョン継手がある。
エレクトロフュージョン継手は管との接触面に電熱線
を埋設した成形品よりなるもので、ソケット継手、サド
ル継手、エルボ継手、T継手、レジューサ継手、キャッ
プ継手など各種の継手が開発されており、管との融着
は、管端部を継手に嵌挿するか、継手を管の側方より外
周面に押当てた状態で決められた時間、一定の電圧で通
電して接触面を加熱溶融することにより行われている。
融着時にエレクトロフュージョン継手に付与される適
正なインプットエネルギーは、継手の種類や口径によっ
て異なり、そのコントロールは出力電圧が一定であるか
ら電熱線の抵抗値によって行われている。そこで従来、
エレクトロフュージョン継手の設計時には、継手の種類
や口径に応じて適正な出力エネルギーが得られるような
抵抗値の電熱線を選び、コイルのピッチや融着時間を変
えることによって調整していた。
第1図に示すソケット継手と第2図に示すキャップ継
手についていえば、これらの融着部は口径が同じ場合、
全く同一の条件で融着することが好ましい。同一条件の
融着とは、電熱線からの放熱を考慮すると、線の外径、
巻ピッチが同一であることが必要であり、上述のキャッ
プ継手は、ソケットの1/2のエネルギーで融着しなけれ
ばならない。従って定電圧の場合、キャップ継手はソケ
ット継手に比較して電熱線が1/2の長さで2倍の抵抗を
必要とすることから、線の固有抵抗は4倍であることが
要求されるが、ぴったりと一致するような電熱線を探す
のは困難であり、通常は線径の若干の変更を含め、4倍
に近い電熱線を選択してからコイルのピッチ、巻数や時
間を変更して調整していた。
発明が解決しようとする課題 従来法では上述するように、継手の種類や口径に応じ
て必要な抵抗値の電熱線を選択し、なければピッチを変
えて電熱線の密度を変更したり、融着時間を変えて調整
していたが、必要な出力エネルギーが得られるように設
計するのは困難であり、そのうえ電熱線の密度、例えば
コイルピッチを変え、電熱線の抵抗値を変えると、出力
エネルギーが電熱線の総抵抗に反比例し、必要なエネル
ギー密度が得られなくなる。
また融着時間を変えるのも加熱不足や過加熱を来たし
がちとなり好ましくない。
本発明は、必要な出力エネルギーを得るためのエレク
トロフュージョン継手の設計が容易に行えるようにする
ことを目的としてなされたものである。
課題の解決手段 本発明は、継手の種類や口径の如何にかゝわらずエネ
ルギー密度が一定となるように電圧を付与することによ
って上記の目的を達成しようとするものである。
すなわち本発明は、プラスチック管を連結するのに使
用され、管との接触面に電熱線を埋設したエレクトロフ
ュージョン継手の融着方法において、継手の種類や口径
の如何にかゝわらずエネルギー密度が一定となるように
電圧を付与することを特徴とするものである。
作用 エネルギー密度が一定となるように電圧を付与するこ
とにより、どのような種類や口径の継手に対しても必要
なエネルギー密度が与えられる。
実施例 第1図に示すソケット継手と第2図に示すキャップ継
手を同線材の電熱線を使用し、同一ピッチで設計した場
合、キャップ継手の電熱線の総抵抗は1/2となるが、電
圧を1/2にすることによりソケット継手の1/2の総エネル
ギーを生じることが可能となる。したがって、第1図に
示すようなソケット継手において、融着面積が1.5倍の
サイスのもので、同線材の電熱線を使用し、同ピッチで
設計すると、電熱線の総抵抗は1.5倍となり、与える電
圧は1.5倍となる。
発明の効果 本発明は以上のように、継手の種類や口径の如何にか
ゝわらず、エネルギー密度が一定となるように電圧を付
与するようにしたもので、電熱線の抵抗値の如何にかゝ
わらず、常に適正なエネルギー密度を与えて最適な融着
を行うことができる。

    管との接触面に電熱線を埋設したエレクトロフュージョ
    ン継手の融着方法において、継手の種類や口径の如何に
    かゝわらずエネルギー密度が一定となるように電圧を付
    与することを特徴とするエレクトロフュージョン継手の
    融着方法。
