の恐れが少ない。 【解決手段】 樹脂管端の接合時に前記管端面間に挟ま

9と、継手本体9内に埋め込まれた通電発熱体10と、
リング板状継手本体外に設けられた通電用ターミナル1
1とからなる。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【発明の属する技術分野】この発明は、合成樹脂管用継
手、特に、安価で施工性および融着性に優れ、しかも、
発熱体の断線の恐れが少ない合成樹脂管用継手に関する
ものである。
【0002】
【従来の技術】例えば、ガス管は、耐ガス腐食性に優れ
たポリエチレン樹脂からなっている。このようなポリエ
チレン樹脂管を互いに接合する場合、ポリエチレン樹脂
は、接着剤による接合が困難であるところから、従来、
以下のような手段が取られていた。 図3に示すように、ポリエチレン樹脂製の円筒状継
手本体2と、この継手本体2内に埋め込まれたニクロム
線等のコイル状発熱線3と、通電用ターミナル4とから
なる合成樹脂管用継手5内に接合すべきポリエチレン樹
脂管1の管端を挿入し、図4に示すように、発熱線3に
通電して、管1と継手本体2との接触部分を溶融させ、
これにより、図5に示すように、管1と継手5とを一体
化する。
【0003】管1と継手本体2との接触部分の溶融状態
の管理は、継手本体2に挿入されたインジケーター6に
よって行う。即ち、通電によって管1と継手本体2との
接触部分が溶融すると、この接触部分の界面圧力が上昇
して、インジケーター6が隆起する。この隆起状態を監
視することによって、管1と継手本体2との溶融状態が
分かる。インジケーター6が図5に示すように、継手本
体2の表面よりも上に隆起したら、管1と継手本体2と
の接触部分が完全に溶融したと判断して、通電を停止す
る。この従来技術1は、EF(Electro Fusion)継手と
して、広く知られている。 図6に示すように、スリーブ7Aの先端にフランジ
7Bが形成されたポリエチレン樹脂製の継手本体7を、
接合すべきポリエチレン樹脂管1の管端外面に融着し、
継手本体7のフランジ7B間にヒータ板8を挟んで、フ
ランジ7Bの接触部分を溶融させる。この後、ヒータ板
8を外し、溶融状態にあるフランジ7Bを互いに突き合
わせて融着する。この従来技術2は、特公昭61−34
375号公報に開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】しかしながら、上述し
た従来継手1は、以下のような問題を有していた。 継手本体2内にポリエチレン樹脂管1の管端を挿入
するので、継手本体2の長さが長くなり、接続すべき管
が大径になるほど大型化する。従って、施工性が悪く、
且つ、コスト高となる。 管端の加熱範囲が広いので、発熱線3の巻数も多く
なる。従って、断線の確率が高くなる。
【0005】一方、上述した従来継手2は、以下のよう
な問題を有していた。 ヒータ板8によってフランジ7Bを加熱溶融させる
ものであるので、熱のコントロールが正確に行えない。
従って、融着不良が生じやすい。
【0006】従って、この発明の目的は、安価で施工性
および融着性に優れ、しかも、発熱体の断線の恐れが少
ない合成樹脂管用継手を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】請求項1記載の発明は、
接合すべき合成樹脂管の管端と、前記合成樹脂管と同一
材質からなる継手本体とを互いに融着させて、前記管端
同士を接合するための合成樹脂管用継手において、前記
継手本体は、リング板状に形成され、前記リング板状継
手本体は、前記管端の接合時に前記管端面間に挟まれ、
前記リング板状継手本体内には、通電によって発熱する
通電発熱体が埋め込まれ、前記リング板状継手本体外に
は、前記通電発熱体に通電するためのターミナルが設け
られていることに特徴を有するものである。
【0008】請求項2記載の発明は、前記通電発熱体
は、通電によって発熱する通電発熱繊維からなっている
ことに特徴を有するものである。請求項3記載の発明
は、前記リング板状継手本体内には、前記合成樹脂管の
前記管端内に嵌め込まれるスリーブが設けられているこ
とに特徴を有するものである。
【0009】請求項4記載の発明は、前記リング板状継
手本体外面には、前記リング板状継手本体より厚い肉厚
を有する少なくとも1つのサドルが固定され、前記サド
ルの1つに、前記ターミナルが取り付けられていること
に特徴を有するものである。

【発明の実施の形態】次に、この発明の合成樹脂管用継
手の一実施態様を、図面を参照しながら説明する。
【0011】図1は、この発明の合成樹脂管用継手を示
す正面図、図2は、この発明の合成樹脂管用継手を示す
側面図である。図1および図2において、9は、ポリエ
チレン樹脂製の継手本体であり、接合すべきポリエチレ
ン樹脂管1の肉厚と同一幅寸法を有するリング板状に形
成されている。図1に示すように、リング板状継手本体
9は、パッキングと同様に管端の接合時に管端面間に挟
まれる。
【0012】10は、リング板状継手本体9内に埋め込
まれた、通電によって発熱する通電発熱体である。通電
発熱体10として、優れた柔軟性および耐久性を有し、
ニクロム線とほぼ同等の電気熱特性を有する公知の通電
発熱繊維を使用すると良い。この通電発熱繊維は、マイ
クロメタルファイバーとアラミド繊維とからなってい
る。通電発熱体10は、継手本体9内に、ワンターン、
蚊取り線香状、コイル状あるいはジグザグ状等に埋め込
まれている。なお、通電発熱体10は、通電発熱繊維以
外に、通常のニクロム線等であっても良い。
【0013】11は、一対のターミナルであり、通電発
熱体10と電気的に接続されている。12は、リング板
状継手本体9の外面に固定された、リング板状継手本体
9より厚い肉厚を有するサドルである。サドル12は、
後述するスリーブ14を設けない場合の管端の位置決め
の作用を有する。従って、サドル12は、この図のよう
に1つでも良いが、複数個設けた方が管端の位置決めが
行いやすい。一対のターミナル11は、1つのサドル1
2に取り付けられている。なお、サドル12の高さを可
能な限り低くして、継手本体9の外面からの突出部分を
少なくすれば、推進工法により管を地中に敷設する場合
にも、この発明の合成樹脂管用継手を使用することがで
きる。13は、管端面と通電発熱体10との接触部分の
溶融状態を把握するためのインジケーターであり、前述
した従来技術1と同じ構造のものである。
【0014】14は、リング板状継手本体9内に嵌め込
まれた、薄肉ステンレス鋼板等の不錆性金属板からなる
スリーブであり、接合すべきポリエチレン樹脂管1の管
端内に嵌め込まれる。このスリーブ14は、必須の構成
ではないが、管の位置決めが容易に行え、しかも、溶融
部分が押し付けられることにより生じる管端内面の盛り
上がりを防止できるといった機能を有している。
【0015】以上のように構成されている、この発明の
合成樹脂管用継手によれば、次のようにしてポリエチレ
ン樹脂管1が接合される。先ず、スリーブ14をガイド
にして管端間にリング板状継手本体9を挟み込む。そし
て、ターミナル11に電源コネクター(図示せず)を嵌
め込んで、通電発熱体10に通電する。これによって、
継手本体9が加熱溶融し、管端と融着するので、ポリエ
チレン樹脂管1は、通電発熱体10を介して互いに接合
される。通電は、インジケーターが継手本体9の表面上
に隆起したところで停止する。

【発明の効果】以上説明したように、この発明によれ
ば、内部に通電発熱体が埋め込まれた、接続すべき樹脂
管と同一材質からなる継手本体をパッキング形状に形成
し、この継手本体を管端間に挟み込んで通電して、継手
本体を加熱溶融し、これにより、管端同士を継手本体を
介して融着するようにしたので、以下のような有用な効
果がもたらされる。 継手本体を小型化できるので、製造コストが安価で
済み、且つ、優れた施工性が得られる。 発熱体の長さを短くすることができるので、発熱体
の断線の可能性が少なくなる。特に、発熱体として通電
発熱繊維を使用すれば、この効果が顕著となる。 継手本体外面からの突出部分が少ないので推進工法
により管を地中に埋設する場合にも適用することができ
る。 管端の加熱部分が少ないので、融着時間が短くて済
む。従って、施工性が向上する。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 接合すべき合成樹脂管の管端と、前記合
    成樹脂管と同一材質からなる継手本体とを互いに融着さ
    せて、前記管端同士を接合するための合成樹脂管用継手
    において、 前記継手本体は、リング板状に形成され、前記リング板
    状継手本体は、前記管端の接合時に前記管端面間に挟ま
    れ、前記リング板状継手本体内には、通電によって発熱
    する通電発熱体が埋め込まれ、前記リング板状継手本体
    外には、前記通電発熱体に通電するためのターミナルが
    設けられていることを特徴とする合成樹脂管用継手。
  2. 【請求項2】 前記通電発熱体は、通電によって発熱す
    る通電発熱繊維からなっていることを特徴とする、請求
    項1記載の合成樹脂管用継手。
  3. 【請求項3】 前記リング板状継手本体内には、前記合
    成樹脂管の前記管端内に嵌め込まれるスリーブが設けら
    れていることを特徴とする、請求項1または2記載の合
    成樹脂管用継手。
  4. 【請求項4】 前記リング板状継手本体外面には、前記
    リング板状継手本体より厚い肉厚を有する少なくとも1
    つのサドルが固定され、前記サドルの1つに、前記ター
    ミナルが取り付けられていることを特徴とする、請求項
    1から3の何れか1つに記載された合成樹脂管用継手。
