Abstract
Description
本発明は、第1正極活物質層および第2正極活物質層を含む多層構造の二次電池用正極であって、前記第1正極活物質層は、ニッケル、コバルト、およびマンガンを含む第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含み、前記第2正極活物質層は、ニッケル、コバルト、およびマンガンを含む第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含み、前記第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物および第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物はニッケルの含量が互いに異なり、ニッケルの含量が相対的に多いリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含む正極活物質層は電解液添加剤を含み、ニッケルの含量が相対的に少ないリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含む正極活物質層は電解液添加剤を含まない、二次電池用正極を提供する。

また、本発明の他の実施形態によると、前記正極を含む電気化学素子が提供される。前記電気化学素子は、具体的に、電池またはキャパシタなどであってもよく、より具体的にはリチウム二次電池であってもよい。
第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物としてLiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2、カーボンブラック導電材、およびPVdFバインダーを、N-メチルピロリドン溶媒中で、重量比で96:2:2の割合で混合し、第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物、カーボンブラック導電材、およびPVdFバインダーの全100重量部に対して、スクシノニトリル(SN)2重量部を混合して第1正極スラリーを製造した。
第1正極スラリーの製造時に、スクシノニトリル(SN)を1重量部混合したことを除き、実施例1と同様に行って正極を製造した。
第1正極スラリーの製造時に、スクシノニトリル(SN)を3重量部混合したことを除き、実施例1と同様に行って正極を製造した。
第1正極スラリーの製造時に、スクシノニトリル(SN)2重量部を混合しなかったことを除き、実施例1と同様に行って正極を製造した。
第1正極スラリーの製造時に、スクシノニトリル(SN)を1重量部混合し、第2正極スラリーの製造時に、第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物、カーボンブラック導電材、およびPVdFバインダーの全100重量部に対してスクシノニトリル(SN)を1重量部混合したことを除き、実施例1と同様に行って正極を製造した。
第1正極スラリーの製造時に、スクシノニトリル(SN)2重量部を混合せず、第2正極スラリーの製造時に、第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物、カーボンブラック導電材、およびPVdFバインダーの全100重量部に対してスクシノニトリル(SN)を2重量部混合したことを除き、実施例1と同様に行って正極を製造した。
正極として、実施例1~3および比較例1~3で製造されたそれぞれの正極を使用した。
実施例1~3および比較例1~3の正極を用いて実験例1のように製造された各リチウム二次電池モノセル(実施例1~3、比較例1~4)に対して、25℃で、CC-CVモードで0.7C、4.2Vになるまで充電(終了電流1/20C)し、60℃で4週間高温貯蔵した後における体積変化量を測定してガス発生量を評価した。また、60℃で4週間高温保管した後、常温で、セルは0.5Cの定電流で4.2V-3.0Vの範囲で充放電を3回行ってからSOC50%に合わせ、2.5C、10秒放電した時に発生する電圧減少/印加電流から抵抗増加量を測定した。その結果を表2に示した。
Claims (9)
- 第1正極活物質層および第2正極活物質層を含む多層構造の二次電池用正極であって、
前記第1正極活物質層は、ニッケル、コバルト、およびマンガンを含む第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含み、前記第2正極活物質層は、ニッケル、コバルト、およびマンガンを含む第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含み、前記第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物および第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物はニッケルの含量が互いに異なり、
ニッケルの含量が相対的に多いリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含む正極活物質層は電解液添加剤を含み、ニッケルの含量が相対的に少ないリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含む正極活物質層は電解液添加剤を含まない、二次電池用正極。 - 前記第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物は、リチウムを除いた金属のうちニッケルが60モル%以上であり、前記第2リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物は、前記第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物に比べてニッケルの含量が少なく、
前記第1正極活物質層は電解液添加剤を含み、第2正極活物質層は電解液添加剤を含まない、請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極。 - 前記電解液添加剤が、スクシノニトリル(Succinonitrile、SN)、エチレンカーボネート(Ethylene carbonate、EC)、ポリエチレングリコール(Polyethylene glycol、PEG)、および環状リン酸塩(Cyclic phosphate、CP)からなる群から選択される少なくとも1つである、請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極。
- 前記電解液添加剤がスクシノニトリル(Succinonitrile、SN)である、請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極。
- 前記電解液添加剤は、前記第1正極活物質層100重量部に対して0.1~5重量部で含まれる、請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極。
- 前記第1リチウム複合遷移金属酸化物は、リチウムを除いた金属のうちニッケルが80モル%以上である、請求項2に記載の二次電池用正極。
- 正極集電体上に前記第1正極活物質層が形成され、前記第1正極活物質層上に前記第2正極活物質層が形成されるか、
正極集電体上に前記第2正極活物質層が形成され、前記第2正極活物質層上に前記第1正極活物質層が形成される、請求項2に記載の二次電池用正極。 - ニッケルの含量が相対的に多いリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物の正極活物質および電解液添加剤を含む第1正極スラリーを形成し、ニッケルの含量が相対的に少ないリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物の正極活物質を含み、且つ電解液添加剤を含まない第2正極スラリーを形成した後、
正極集電体上に前記第1正極スラリーおよび第2正極スラリーを多層構造で塗布し、乾燥および圧延することで製造する、請求項1に記載の二次電池用正極の製造方法。 - 請求項1に記載の正極と、
前記正極に対向して位置し、負極活物質を含む負極と、
前記正極と負極との間に位置するセパレータと、
前記正極および負極中に含浸された電解液と、を含み、
前記正極において、ニッケルの含量が相対的に多いリチウム複合遷移金属酸化物を含む正極活物質層中の電解液のみに電解液添加剤が含まれている、リチウム二次電池。
