本発明は、概して、医療検出のためのマーカの分野に関し、より具体的には、磁気医療マーカに関する。
マンモグラフィスクリーニングプログラムの普及の増加に伴って、乳房温存治療を受けることができる、小触知不能(または、潜在的)病変のような乳癌の大部分が、検出される。触知不能乳癌の正確な局在化は、適正なエッジを伴って、完全腫瘍の外科手術的除去を可能にするために重要である。腫瘍が完全に切除されない場合、患者は、さらなる手術を受け、任意の残っている癌性組織を除去する必要がある。正確な局在化はまた、有害な審美的結果をもたらし得る、過剰な乳房組織の切除を回避することに役立つ。正確な局在化は、結腸直腸、前立腺、および肺等の他の癌ならびに当業者によって公知の他の状態によっても要求される。
本発明は、外科手術用途のための磁気マーカに関する。特に、いったん展開されると、展開に先立ってその幾何学形状から予期されるであろうものより均一な磁気応答を伴う、磁気マーカに関する。
磁気マーカを永久磁石として作製するための方法は、米国特許第6,173,715号に説明されている。永久磁石インプラントは、近傍における任意の磁性材料を誘引し、したがって、例えば、磁性材料から作製される外科手術用ツールが近傍にあるとき、望ましくなく、他のインプラントと相互作用するか、または組織内で移動し得るという短所を有する。

Claims (19)
- 身体内の組織中の部位をマークするための送達デバイス内に保持される、パックされる磁気マーカであって、展開に先立って非球状構成を備え、5未満の展開後の最大磁気応答と最小磁気応答の比(磁化率の磁気異方性比)を有する、磁気マーカ。
- 展開前の前記マーカのアスペクト比(長さ対直径)は、4を上回る、請求項1に記載の磁気マーカ。
- 展開前の前記マーカの磁化率の磁気異方性比は、5を上回る、請求項1に記載の磁気マーカ。
- 前記マーカは、磁化率のより高い磁気異方性を有するパック構成と、磁化率のより低い磁気異方性を有する展開/非パック構成との間で弾力により変形可能である、請求項1に記載の磁気マーカ。
- 前記マーカは、より高い投影面積異方性比を有するパック構成と、より低い投影面積異方性比を有する展開/非パック構成との間で弾力により変形可能である、請求項1に記載の磁気マーカ。
- 前記非球状構成は、円筒形、ケーブル、ビーズ、「ダンベル状」形態、およびヤーンのボールから成る群から選択される形状である、請求項1に記載の磁気マーカ。
- 前記円筒形またはケーブルは、組織内への留置の際に屈曲する、請求項6に記載の磁気マーカ。
- 前記非球状構成は、6未満の異方性比を有する、請求項1に記載の磁気マーカ。

- 身体内の組織中の部位をマークするための磁気マーカであって、磁性材料シース内の磁性材料コアを備える、磁気マーカ。
- 前記コアおよび前記シースのうちの1つは、100Oe未満の保磁力を伴う、軟質磁性材料から成る、請求項15に記載の磁気マーカ。
