以下、本発明における排気還流バルブ(EGRバルブ)を具体化した第1実施形態につき図面を参照して詳細に説明する。

Claims (5)
- 排気還流ガスの流路を含むハウジングと、
前記流路に設けられた弁座と、
前記弁座は弁孔を有し、前記弁孔は内周面を含み、前記内周面は上流側内周縁と下流側内周縁を含むことと、
前記弁座に着座可能に設けられ、前記弁座との間で前記排気還流ガスの計量部を形成する弁体と、
前記弁体は、略傘形状をなし、最小外径部と最大外径部を含むことと、
前記弁体が一端部に設けられた弁軸と、
前記弁体は、前記弁孔の内側に配置され、前記最大外径部付近が前記弁孔の前記上流側内周縁に当接する全閉位置と前記最大外径部が前記上流側内周縁から最も離間する全開位置との間で前記弁軸と共に前記弁座の軸線方向へ移動可能に設けられることと
を備え、前記弁軸と共に前記弁体を前記弁座に対して移動させ前記計量部の開口面積を変化させることにより前記弁体の開度を変化させて前記流路における前記排気還流ガスの流量を調節すると共に、前記弁体の低開度域では高分解能の流量特性を有し、高開度域では大流量の流量特性を有する排気還流バルブにおいて、
前記弁体と前記弁座を所定の形状に規定することにより、前記低開度域での前記流量特性を段差なく曲線的に変化させることを特徴とする排気還流バルブ。 - 前記弁座は、前記弁孔の内周面が前記下流側内周縁へ向けて内径が徐々に拡大するようにテーパに形成される部分を含み、
前記低開度域において、前記弁孔の前記内周面のある一点と前記弁体の表面のある一点とを結ぶ線分が最小距離となる前記各一点をそれぞれ第1点及び第2点とし、前記線分の直角二等分線上に位置するある一点と前記弁孔の前記テーパに形成された前記内周面とに外接する第1円と、前記直角二等分線上に位置する前記ある一点と前記弁体の表面とに外接する第2円とを想定したとき、前記第1円の直径が前記第2円の直径以上となる関係を満たすように前記弁体及び前記弁座の形状を規定することにより、前記計量部を通過した前記排気還流ガスが前記弁体及び前記弁軸に沿って流れるようにしたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の排気還流バルブ。 - 前記第1円の直径が前記弁体の円周方向において不均一となることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の排気還流バルブ。
- 前記第1円の直径が前記流路の出口側に近付くほど大きくなることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の排気還流バルブ。
- 前記弁体は、前記最小外径部へ向けて外径が徐々に縮小するテーパ部を含み、
前記弁体の前記テーパ部と前記弁軸の前記軸線とがなす角度を第1角度とし、前記弁座の前記上流側内周縁から更に上流側へ続く内周面と前記弁軸の軸線とがなす角度を第2角度とし、前記第1角度が前記第2角度より大きくなるように前記弁体及び前記弁座の形状を規定することにより、前記計量部を通過した前記排気還流ガスが前記弁座と前記弁体及び前記弁軸との間の中間に沿って流れるようにしたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の排気還流バルブ。
