Abstract
【解決手段】入力表示装置1は、電界が存在しない状態でホモジニアス配向した液晶分子を含む液晶層2と、該液晶層の視認側に配置された偏光板3と、該偏光板と液晶層2との間に配置された静電容量センサ4と、該静電容量センサと偏光板3との間に配置され、且つ偏光板3に合着された帯電防止層5とを備える。静電容量センサ4は、透明基板6と、該透明基板上に形成された透明電極パターン7と、該透明電極パターンを埋設するように透明基板上に形成された接着層8とを有している。帯電防止層5の単位面積当りの表面抵抗値は、1.0×109〜1.0×1011Ω/□である。

Description
本発明に用いられる液晶層は、電界が存在しない状態でホモジニアス配向した液晶分子を含む、いわゆるIPS(In-Plane Switching)方式と呼ばれる液晶層である。上記液晶層の厚さは、例えば1.5μm〜4.0μmである。
本発明に用いられる偏光板は、液晶層の視認側に配置される。上記偏光板は、該偏光板に入力する光を互いに直交する2つの偏光成分に分離し、一方の偏光成分を透過させ、他方の偏光成分を吸収する機能を有している。上記偏光板は、面内に吸収軸と透過軸とを有する。上記吸収軸は入射する光を最大に吸収する方向であり、上記透過軸は光を最大に透過する方向である。一般に、上記吸収軸と上記透過軸とは互いに直交する。
本発明に用いられる帯電防止層は、偏光板と静電容量センサとの間に配置され、且つ偏光板に合着される。この帯電防止層の厚みは、例えば0.1μm〜80μmである。上記帯電防止層の単位面積当りの表面抵抗値は、1.0×109〜1.0×1011Ω/□(ohms per square)である。帯電防止層の表面抵抗値が1.0×109Ω/□未満であると静電容量センサの誤作動が生じ、一方、表面抵抗値が1.0×1011Ω/□を超えると液晶層の表示不良が生じる。
本発明に用いられる静電容量センサは、偏光板と液晶層との間に配置される。上記静電容量センサは、透明基板と、該透明基板上に形成された透明電極パターンと、該透明電極パターンを埋設するように透明基板上に形成された接着層とを有する。上記透明電極パターンは、通常、透明基板の端部に形成された引き回し線(不図示)に電気的に接続され、上記引き回し線は、コントローラIC(不図示)と接続される。
先ず、ガラス基板の一方側に、顔料を分散させた着色用樹脂溶液を塗布して着色用樹脂層を形成し、他方の側にインジウムスズ酸化物をスパッタリング法により成膜して透明電極層を形成した。その後、着色用樹脂層と透明電極層をそれぞれエッチング処理して、カラーフィルタと透明電極パターンとを有する上部基板を作製した。
表面抵抗値が8.0×1010Ω/□の帯電防止層を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様の構成の入力表示装置を作製した。上記帯電防止層には、ビス(トリフルオロメタンスルホニル)イミドリチウムを、該帯電防止層の総重量に対して2重量%分散させたアクリル系感圧接着剤(厚み25μm)を用いた。
表面抵抗値が5.0×108Ω/□の帯電防止層を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様の構成の入力表示装置を作製した。上記帯電防止層には、ビス(トリフルオロメタンスルホニル)イミドリチウムを、該帯電防止層の総重量に対して10重量%分散させたアクリル系感圧接着剤(厚み25μm)を用いた。
表面抵抗値が2.0×1011Ω/□の帯電防止層を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様の構成の入力表示装置を作製した。上記帯電防止層には、ビス(トリフルオロメタンスルホニル)イミドリチウムを、該帯電防止層の総重量に対して1重量%分散させたアクリル系感圧接着剤(厚み25μm)を用いた。
JIS K 7194に準拠して、実施例1,2及び比較例1,2の表面抵抗値を4端子法にて測定した。
静電気放電銃(Electrostatic discharge Gun)を用いて、入力表示装置の視認側の表面に配置された偏光板に静電気を印加して、目視観察により表示不良の有無を確認した。
実施例1,2及び比較例1,2の入力表示装置を使用している状態で目視観察を行い、誤作動の有無を確認した。
表1の結果から、実施例1,2に示すように、単位面積当りの表面抵抗値が2.0×109〜8.0×1010Ω/□である帯電防止層を用いた入力表示装置では、偏光板が静電気によって帯電しても、液晶層に表示不良を生じなかった。また、静電容量センサの誤作動も生じなかった。

Claims (5)
- 電界が存在しない状態でホモジニアス配向した液晶分子を含む液晶層と、
前記液晶層の視認側に配置された第1偏光板と、
前記第1偏光板と前記液晶層との間に配置された静電容量センサと、
前記第1偏光板と前記静電容量センサとの間に配置され、且つ前記第1偏光板に合着された帯電防止層とを備え、
前記静電容量センサは、透明基板と、前記透明基板上に形成された透明電極パターンと、前記透明電極パターンを埋設するように前記透明基板上に形成された第1接着層とを有し、
前記帯電防止層の表面抵抗値は、1.0×109〜1.0×1011Ω/□であることを特徴とする入力表示装置。 - 前記帯電防止層と前記第1接着層との間に配置され、視認側からの視野角を広げる位相差フィルムを更に備えることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の入力表示装置。
- 液晶層に関して視認側とは反対側に、第2接着層を介して第2偏光板が配置されることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の入力表示装置。
- 前記帯電防止層は、界面活性剤、アルカリ金属塩、多価アルコール、導電性微粒子及び導電性ポリマーのうちいずれかを含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載の入力表示装置。
- 前記アルカリ金属塩がビス(トリフルオロアルカンスルホニル)イミドアルカリ金属塩であることを特徴とする、請求項4記載の入力表示装置。
