Abstract
【課題】触媒貴金属の浄化特性を十分に発揮でき、触媒の低温浄化性能が高い排ガス浄化用触媒を提供する。
【解決手段】排ガスが流通するガス流路を形成する基材1と、基材1上に形成された触媒層10とからなる。触媒層10は、基材1の表面に形成された下触媒層2と、下触媒層2の表面であってガス流れ方向の上流側を被覆する前段上触媒層3と、下触媒層2の表面であって前段上触媒層3よりもガス流れ方向の下流側を被覆する後段上触媒層4とから構成されている。下触媒層2は、PdおよびPtの少なくとも1種を担持している。前段上触媒層3は、Pdを担持している。後段上触媒層4は、Rhを担持している。前段上触媒層3のPd担持密度は,4.5〜12質量%である

本例の排ガス浄化用触媒は、図1に示すように、基材1と、基材1上に形成された触媒層10とからなる。触媒層10は、基材1の表面に形成された下触媒層2と、下触媒層2の表面の上流側部分に形成された前段上触媒層3と、下触媒層2の表面の下流側部分に形成された後段上触媒層4とから構成されている。
本例の排ガス浄化用触媒においては、前段上触媒層の中のPdの担持密度は8.8質量%であり、前段上触媒層のコート量は20g(22.9g/L)であり、前段上触媒層の長さは21mmである。即ち、本例は、前段上触媒層中のPdの担持量を実施例1の場合と同量とし、前段上触媒層のコート量を実施例1の場合よりも減らすことで、前段上触媒層の中のPd担持密度を増加させるとともに、前段上触媒層の長さを短くしている。その他は、実施例1と同様である。
本比較例の排ガス浄化用触媒においては、前段上触媒層の中のPdの担持密度は1.8質量%であり、前段上触媒層のコート量は100g(114g/L)であり、前段上触媒層の長さは105mmである。即ち、本例は、前段上触媒層中のPdの担持量を実施例1の場合と同量とし、前段上触媒層のコート量を実施例1の場合よりも増加させることで、前段上触媒層の中のPd担持密度を実施例1の場合よりも減少させているとともに、前段上触媒層の長さを下触媒層と同じとしている。本例においては、図3に示すように、前段上触媒層3が、下触媒層2の表面全体を被覆しており、後段上触媒層は形成していない。その他は、実施例1と同様である。
比較例2の排ガス浄化用触媒においては、前段上触媒層の中のPdの担持密度は3.5質量%であり、前段上触媒層のコート量は50g(57.1g/L)であり、前段上触媒層の長さは52.5mmである。
上記実施例1,2及び比較例1〜4の触媒について排ガス浄化量を測定した。
上記実施例1,2及び比較例1〜4の触媒についてガス圧力損失を測定した。触媒の上流側からガス流量5m3/minのガスを触媒に流入させた。触媒下流端直後で出ガスのガス圧力を測定した。入ガスの圧力と出ガスの圧力との差をもとめ、これを圧力損失として表1及び図5に示した。図5のX軸は、Pdの担持密度を示し、Y軸は圧力損失を示す。
上記測定結果より、実施例1,2の触媒の浄化量は、比較例1〜4の触媒に比べて浄化量が高かった。比較例1では、前段上触媒層の中のPd担持密度が小さく、HC浄化性能が低かった。前段上触媒層のPd担持密度が高くなるほど、HC浄化性能が高くなった。
前段上触媒層のコート量を変化させたときの、触媒のHC50%浄化時間を測定した。
後段上触媒層の長さを変化させて、触媒のHC50%浄化温度及びNOx排出量を測定した。
後段上触媒層のコート量を変えた場合の、排ガス浄化用触媒のNOx排出量を測定した。
下触媒層のコート量を変化させた各触媒について、OSC性能及び圧力損失を測定した。
下触媒層のコート量を変化させた各触媒について、HC−50%浄化温度及び圧力損失を測定した。
前段上触媒層の触媒貴金属Pdを担持する担体の組成を変えて、排ガス浄化用触媒を作製した。
前段上触媒層の中に酸素吸放出材が含まれている場合と含まれていない場合との排ガス浄化用触媒の性能を評価した。
図15に示すように、基材1の下流側には後段上触媒層4を形成し、基材1の上流側には前段上触媒層3を形成した。基材1、前段上触媒層3、後段上触媒層4の構成は、検討6の基材、前段上触媒層、後段上触媒層と同様である。ただし、本検討においては、前段上触媒層を、検討7のスラリー(B1)を用いて形成した。検討7のスラリー(B1)は、Al2O3−R2O3(表2の試料No.5と同様の組成比)からなる担体25g/Lに対して1.0g/LのPdを担持させ、更に、11g/LのCeO2−ZrO2−La2O3−Pr6O11複合酸化物(酸素吸放出材)と、7g/LのBaSO4と、3g/LのAl2O3バインダーとを混合して調製したものである。スラリー(B1)の中のCeO2−ZrO2−La2O3−Pr6O11複合酸化物(酸素吸放出材)には、Pdが担持されていない。酸素吸放出材中のCeO2の濃度は、酸素吸放出材100質量%に対して、0質量%、20質量%、25質量%、30質量%、60質量%に変化させた。
Claims (6)
- 排ガスが流通するガス流路を形成する基材と、該基材上に形成された触媒層とからなり、
該触媒層は、該基材の表面に形成された下触媒層と、該下触媒層の表面であって前記排ガスのガス流れ方向の上流側を被覆する前段上触媒層と、該下触媒層の表面であって前記前段上触媒層よりも前記ガス流れ方向の下流側を被覆する後段上触媒層とから構成されている排ガス浄化用触媒であって、
前記下触媒層は、PdおよびPtの少なくとも1種を担持し、
前記後段上触媒層は、Rhを担持し、
前記前段上触媒層は、Pdを担持しており、
前記前段上触媒層のPd担持密度は、4.5〜12質量%であることを特徴とする排ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記下触媒層の長さに対する前記前段上触媒層の長さの比率は、20〜40%である請求項1記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
- 前記下触媒層の長さに対する前記後段上触媒層の長さの比率は、70〜85%である請求項1又は請求項2に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
- 前記下触媒層には、酸素吸放出材が含まれており、
前記基材1リットル当たりの前記下触媒層のコート量は、105〜155gである請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記前段上触媒層は、Pdを担持しているAl2O3と、Pdを担持していない酸素吸放出材とからなる請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
- 前記前段上触媒層の前記酸素吸放出材は、前記酸素吸放出材全体を100質量%としたとき、30〜60質量%のCeO2を含む請求項5記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
