Abstract
Description
(1)排ガスが通過するガス流路を区画する基材と、前記基材上に直接、または、他層を介して設けられた触媒層であって、前記ガス流路の上流側に設けられ且つPdを含有する上流側触媒層、及び、前記基材上に直接、または、前記他層を介して設けられ、前記ガス流路の下流側に前記上流側触媒層と距離Lcだけ離間して設けられ且つRhを含有する下流側触媒層を有する触媒層と、を少なくとも備える、排ガス浄化用触媒。
ここで、Lcは、前記排ガスの流れ方向の断面視で前記基材の全長を基準として0%を超え、15%未満である。
(3)前記下流側触媒層中のRh含有量が、前記下地触媒層中のRh含有量よりも多い(1)又は(2)に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
(5)前記下地触媒層は、第1母材粒子及び前記第1母材粒子上に担持された前記Rhを有する第1複合触媒粒子を少なくとも含有する(4)に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
(6)前記下地触媒層は、酸素吸蔵放出材料をさらに含有する(4)又は(5)に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
(8)前記上流側触媒層は、酸素吸蔵放出材料をさらに含有する(7)に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
(10)前記下流側触媒層は、酸素吸蔵放出材料をさらに含有する(9)に記載の排ガス浄化用触媒。
まず、セリア−ジルコニア系複合酸化物(CeO2:40質量%)と、γ−アルミナ粉末に純水を加えて、実施例1のOSC層用のスラリー状混合物を調製した。
貴金属総量が変動しないように、下流側触媒層用のスラリー状混合物の貴金属量を表1に示すとおりに変更した上で、下流側触媒層の塗布長さLbを表1に示すとおりに変更する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、耐久処理後の実施例2〜5の一体構造型積層触媒を得た。
貴金属総量が変動しないように、上流側触媒層用のスラリー状混合物及び下流側触媒層用のスラリー状混合物の貴金属量を表1に示すとおりに変更した上で、上流側触媒層の塗布長さLa及び下流側触媒層の塗布長さLbをそれぞれ表1に示すとおりに変更する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、耐久処理後の比較例1〜3の一体構造型積層触媒を得た。比較例1〜3の一体構造型積層触媒は、上流側触媒層上に下流側触媒層の一部が重なるように被覆したものであり、表1中のマイナスの符号は、上流側触媒層と下流側触媒層とが重なっている部分の長さ(距離)を意味する。
貴金属総量が変動しないように、下流側触媒層用のスラリー状混合物の貴金属量を表1に示すとおりに変更した上で、下流側触媒層の塗布長さLbを表1に示すとおりに変更する以外は、実施例1と同様にして、耐久処理後の比較例4の一体構造型積層触媒を得た。
得られた耐久処理後の各排ガス浄化用触媒につき、暖機性能、低温浄化性能、A/F特性、及びOSC性能をそれぞれ評価した。評価条件を以下に示す。
耐久処理後に室温まで放冷させた各排ガス浄化用触媒をそれぞれ用いて、暖機特性の測定を行った。ここでは、2Lエンジンを用い、エンジン回転数2500rpm、ブースト圧−380mmHg、及びA/Fレート14.56±0.1/2.5Hzの条件下、触媒入口端面から1インチ部分に温度センサを取り付け、バイパス切り替えで400℃に保った排ガスを導入し、開始温度50℃から昇温成り行きで測定を行った。触媒入口及び出口ガス組成を分析して、HCの浄化率を求めた。そしてHC浄化率が50%に到達した時間(HC50%浄化時間)を算出し、暖機特性とした。HCの50%浄化時間が短い程、優れた触媒であることを示している。
耐久処理後に室温まで放冷させた各排ガス浄化用触媒をそれぞれ用いて、ライトオフ性能の測定を行った。ここでは、2Lエンジンを用い、エンジン回転数2500rpm、ブースト圧−300mmHg、A/Fレート14.56±0.4/2.5Hzの条件下、エンジン排気系の触媒コンバーターの前に熱交換器を取り付け、触媒入口ガス温度を200〜450℃まで一定の昇温速度(10℃/min)で変化させ、触媒入口及び出口ガス組成を分析して、HCの浄化率を求めた。そしてHCの浄化率が50%に達した温度(ライトオフ温度)を測定し、ライトオフ性能とした。HCの50%浄化温度が低い程、優れた触媒であることを示している。
耐久処理後に室温まで放冷させた各排ガス浄化用触媒をそれぞれ用いて、A/F特性の測定を行った。ここでは、2Lエンジンを用い、エンジン回転数2500rpm、ブースト圧−300mmHg条件下、触媒入口ガス温度を500℃に固定し、A/Fを±1.0A/F、1Hzで振動させながら平均空燃比を連続的に変化させ、このときの触媒入口及び出口ガス組成を分析して、平均空燃比A/Fが13.5から15.5までのCO、HCおよびNOxの浄化率をそれぞれ求めた。このようにして求めたCO、HCおよびNOxの浄化率対入口空燃比をグラフにプロットして三元特性曲線を作成し、CO、NOx浄化曲線の交点(クロスオーバーポイント:COP)の浄化率をA/F特性とした。COPの浄化率が高い程、優れた触媒であることを示している。
耐久処理後に室温まで放冷させた各排ガス浄化用触媒をそれぞれ用いて、OSC性能の測定を行った。ここでは、2Lエンジンを用い、エンジン回転数2500rpm、ブースト圧−300mmHg条件下、触媒入口ガス温度を500℃に固定し、A/Fを14.1〜15.1の間における出ガス中の酸素濃度を連続的に測定した。空燃比が15.1から14.1に達するまでに放出する酸素量を、酸素吸蔵量として算出し、OSC性能とした。酸素吸蔵量が高い程、優れた触媒であることを示している。

- 排ガスが通過するガス流路を区画する基材と、
前記基材上に直接、または、他層を介して設けられた触媒層であって、前記ガス流路の上流側に設けられ且つPdを含有する上流側触媒層、及び、前記基材上に直接、または、前記他層を介して設けられ、前記ガス流路の下流側に前記上流側触媒層と距離Lcだけ離間して設けられ且つRhを含有する下流側触媒層を有する触媒層と、
を少なくとも備える、排ガス浄化用触媒。
ここで、Lcは、前記排ガスの流れ方向の断面視で前記基材の全長を基準として0%を超え、15%未満である。 - 前記上流側触媒層は、前記排ガスの流れ方向の断面視で前記基材の全長に対して30〜70%の範囲で前記基材または前記他層を覆うように設けられており、
前記下流側触媒層は、前記排ガスの流れ方向の断面視で前記基材の全長に対して70〜30%の範囲で前記基材または前記他層を覆うように設けられている
