Abstract
【解決手段】電圧制御発振器における共振部1は、外部から入力される周波数制御用の制御電圧に応じて静電容量が変化する可変容量素子13、14と、インダクタンス素子11と、を含み、増幅部21はこの共振部1からの周波数信号を増幅すると共に、帰還部2は帰還用の容量素子22、23を含み、前記増幅部21で増幅された周波数信号を前記共振部1に帰還させ、前記増幅部21及び共振部1と共に発振ループを構成する。そして前記共振部1及び帰還部2は、水晶基板5上に設けられている。

この共振部からの周波数信号を増幅するための増幅部と、
帰還用の容量素子を含み、前記増幅部で増幅された周波数信号を前記共振部に帰還させ、前記増幅部及び共振部と共に発振ループを構成する帰還部と、

前記共振部及び帰還部は、水晶基板上に設けられていることを特徴とする。
(a)前記共振部のインダクタンス素子は、前記水晶基板上に形成された導電路であること。
(b)前記共振部の可変容量素子は、互に間隔をおいて交差する櫛歯状の導電路の対からなること。
(c)前記帰還部は、帰還用の容量素子を含み、この帰還用の容量素子は、互に間隔をおいて交差する櫛歯状の導電路の対からなること。
(d)前記水晶基板には更に周辺部品が設けられていること。
(e)前記直列共振周波数は、5GHz以上であること。
IC回路部3内には、例えばトランジスタ21のコレクタに互に並列に接続された2つのバッファアンプ31、32が設けられ、一方のバッファアンプ31からは発振出力(発振周波数の信号)が端子部T3を介して取り出され、また他方のバッファアンプ32からは発振出力が分周回路33及び端子部T4を介して取り出されるように構成されている。
ここで、図7は、図6に示したA−A'線にて水晶基板5を切断した縦断側面図を示しており、図8は、図6に示した基板上回路部10の一部を拡大して示した図である。
本発明のVCOについて、実際に動作に必要な電力値を確認したところ、分周器を含めて電圧が3.5V、電流が75mA程度となった。一方、従来のGaAsをベース基板5として用いているVCOの特性を同様に確認したところ、電圧が5V、電流が300mA程度であった。従って、本発明のVCOでは、従来のVCOと比較して、消費電力を下げられることが分かった。
また、水晶基板5上の導電線路48のレイアウトとしては、例えば図11に示すように、当該水晶基板5上においてインダクタンス素子11を引き回すようにしてもよい。
また、上記の例では、バリキャップダイオード13、14を2つ配置したが、1つでもよいし、また既述の図13に示すようにこれらのバリキャップダイオード13、14のうちの一方にコンデンサ12の働きを受け持たせるようにしてもよい。

- 外部から入力される周波数制御用の制御電圧に応じて静電容量が変化する可変容量素子と、インダクタンス素子と、を含み、前記静電容量に応じて直列共振周波数が調整される共振部と、
この共振部からの周波数信号を増幅するための増幅部と、
帰還用の容量素子を含み、前記増幅部で増幅された周波数信号を前記共振部に帰還させ、前記増幅部及び共振部と共に発振ループを構成する帰還部と、
を備え、
前記共振部及び帰還部は、水晶基板上に設けられていることを特徴とする電圧制御発振器。 - 前記共振部のインダクタンス素子は、前記水晶基板上に形成された導電路であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 前記共振部は前記可変容量素子以外の容量素子を含み、この容量素子は、互に間隔をおいて交差する櫛歯状の導電路の対からなることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 前記帰還部は、帰還用の容量素子を含み、
この帰還用の容量素子は、互に間隔をおいて交差する櫛歯状の導電路の対からなることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一つに記載の電圧制御発振器。 - 前記水晶基板には更に周辺部品が設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし4のいずれか一つに記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 前記直列共振周波数は、5GHz以上であることを特徴とする請求項1ないし5の何れか一つに記載の電圧制御発振器。
