Abstract

Description
本発明は、少なくとも1つの熱小室を有したカイロに関する。
カイロ用熱小室(thermal cell)、特に反応性鉄粉末と活性化炭素の混合物を使用するものが当該分野では周知である。このような小室は、数時間にわたって熱を供給する制御された発熱反応を生じるには、酸素を必要とする。一般的には、この混合物は空気透過性小袋(pocket)中に包まれ、使用時まで不透過性外袋中に密閉されている。この透過性小袋は不織布材料(nonwoven material)であってもよい。不織布材料に、推進力0.21気圧で、1日で100平方インチ当たりに約0.5×105cm3から、その約4倍の範囲の拡散性酸素透過性を付与することは困難である。そうするためには、不織布表面の約95%よりも多く、100%未満が、不透過性材料で閉塞されなければならないから、困難である。これは他のものが避けてきた透過性範囲である。液体と気体の濾過プロセスははるかに高い透過性範囲(通常、約50%の開放領域)を必要とし、また気体分離膜はより低い透過性範囲(0%の開放領域)を有する。
本発明の一態様において、推進力0.21気圧で気体透過性が1日で100平方インチ当たりに約0.5×105cm3〜約2×105cm3である拡散性気体透過性材料を作製する方法は、多孔性基材上に気体不透過性材料のスポットパターンを先ず塗布する工程と、次いで、多孔性基材の約95%よりも大きく、および好ましくは約99%の部分を覆うようにスポットパターンを拡大して、拡散性気体透過性がスポットパターン間の開口部にのみ生じる工程を含む。好ましくは、拡散性気体透過性は拡散性酸素透過性であるが、また、二酸化炭素または他の気体を含んでいてもよい。気体不透過性材料は好ましくは、ホットメルト接着剤であり、また多孔性基材は好ましくは、不織布である。

Claims (2)
- 少なくとも1つの熱小室を有したカイロであって、
前記熱小室は、
小袋を有するように形成された底部シートであって、酸素不透過性である底部シートと、
該小袋中に配置された複数の粒子であって、酸素に曝された際に発熱的に反応する複数の粒子と、
該粒子が該小袋から出ないように、該複数の粒子を包むために、該小袋のフランジで該底部シートに密閉された頂部シートと
を備え、
該頂部シートは多孔性基材を有し、
該多孔性基材は酸素不透過性材料で作製されたスポットパターンで塗布され、
該酸素不透過性材料は、該頂部シートの拡散性推進力0.21気圧での拡散性酸素透過性が1日で100平方インチ当たりに0.5×105cm3〜2×105cm3であるように、該多孔性基材の95%より大きい表面を均一に覆うことを特徴とするカイロ。 - 前記酸素不透過性材料はホットメルト接着剤であり、かつ前記多孔性基材は不織布であって、該ホットメルト接着剤は該多孔性基材の小袋面側上にあり、
該ホットメルト接着剤がまた前記底部シートに前記頂部シートを密閉する役目をする、請求項1に記載のカイロ。
