Abstract
Description
本発明は、粘度指数改良剤(VII)、このような粘度指数改良剤を含有する油組成物及びこのような粘度指数改良剤を含有するポリマー性濃縮物に関する。より具体的には、本発明は、粘度指数改良剤として使用される最小化された結晶化度を有する制御分布ブロックコポリマー、粘度指数改良剤として制御分布ブロックコポリマーを含有する油組成物及び粘度指数改良剤として制御分布ブロックコポリマーを含有するポリマー性濃縮物に関する。
本発明は、高性能エンジンのために調合された油組成物中の粘度指数改良剤として有用である最小化された結晶化度を有する低コストの固体コポリマーを提供する。本明細書に記載されているコポリマーは、粘度が改善された油組成物を作るために、基油とともに使用することができる。基油の少なくとも約75重量%及び本発明のコポリマーの約5から約25重量%を含有する濃縮物も作製することができる。
a.水素添加の前に、各Aブロックはモノアルケニルアレーンホモポリマーブロックであり、並びに各Bブロックは、少なくとも1つの共役ジエン及び少なくとも1つのモノアルケニルアレーンの制御分布コポリマーブロックであり;
b.水素添加の後に、アレーン二重結合の約0から約10%が還元され、及び共役ジエン二重結合の少なくとも約90%が還元されており;
c.各Aブロックは約3,000と約60,000の間の数平均分子量を有し、及び各Bブロックは約30,000と約300,000の間の数平均分子量を有し;
d.各Bブロックは共役ジエン単位に富むAブロックに隣接する末端領域と、及びモノアルケニルアレーン単位に富むAブロックに隣接していない1つ又はそれ以上の領域とを含み;
v.水素添加されたブロックコポリマー中のモノアルケニルアレーンの総量が約20重量%から約80重量であり;並びに
f.各Bブロック中のモノアルケニルアレーンの重量%が約10%と約75%の間であり、
但し、Aブロックが存在しない場合には、各Bブロックは、共役ジエン単位に富む末端領域を含み、及びモノアルケニルアレーン単位に富む1つ又はそれ以上の非末端単位を含み、並びに、2以上のAブロックが存在する場合には、各Aブロックが約5000未満の分子量を有する。
上述のように、本発明は、最小化された結晶化度を有する水素添加された陰イオン性ブロックコポリマーを含む、油組成物中で使用するための粘度指数改良剤を提供する。「最小化された結晶化度」とは、本発明のブロックコポリマーが、基油の蝋と共結晶化することができるBブロック(すなわち、制御分布ブロック)中の結晶セグメントを実質的に有さないことを意味する。本発明において、これは、水素添加された1,4−ブタジエンセグメントが短すぎて油中の蝋と共結晶化することができないように、共役ジエン中の1,2−ブタジエンを約15から約30mol%の範囲に調節することによって及びBブロック中のモノアルケニルアレーンの量及び分布を調節することによって達成される。
本実施例では、本発明のジブロックコポリマーの粘稠化能を、2つの慣用のVIIポリマーの濃縮能と比較した。コポリマー1(本発明の代表である)は、S−EB/Sジブロックポリマー(Sは、44,000の分子量を有するポリスチレンブロックであり、及びEB/Sは、ブタジエン二重結合の少なくとも95%を除去するために選択的に水素添加された分子量57,000/33,000の制御分布コポリマーブロックを表す。)であった。コポリマー1のEB/Sブロックのスチレン含量は約37重量%(25モル%)であり、1,2/1,4−ブタジエン比は21/79であった。コポリマー1の総スチレン含量は57重量%であった。コポリマー1は、上に概説された基本的操作を用いて作製された。具体的には、重合は、0.5重量%のジエチルエーテルを含有するシクロヘキサン中において、50℃で実施した。比較用ポリマー1及び2は、Sがポリスチレンを表し、EPが水素添加されたポリイソプレンを表すS−EP型ジブロックポリマーであった。比較用ポリマー1のブロック分子量は35,000及び65,000であるのに対して、比較用ポリマー2のブロック分子量は、それぞれ、S及びEPブロックに関して、37,000及び100,000であった。比較用ポリマー1及び2は、粘稠化油組成物の分野で典型的に使用される慣用のVIIポリマーである。
Claims (14)
- 少なくとも1つのポリマーブロックBを有し及び少なくとも1つのポリマーブロックAを場合によって有する水素添加されたブロックコポリマーを含み、並びに
a.水素添加の前に、各Aブロックはモノアルケニルアレーンホモポリマーブロックであり、並びに各Bブロックは、少なくとも1つの共役ジエン及び少なくとも1つのモノアルケニルアレーンの制御分布コポリマーブロックであり;
b.水素添加の後に、アレーン二重結合の約0から10%が還元され、及び共役ジエン二重結合の少なくとも約90%が還元されており;
c.各Aブロックは約3,000と約60,000の間の数平均分子量を有し、及び各Bブロックは約20,000と約300,000の間の数平均分子量を有し;
d.各Bブロックは共役ジエン単位に富むAブロックに隣接する末端領域と、及びモノアルケニルアレーン単位に富むAブロックに隣接していない1つ又はそれ以上の領域とを含み;
e.水素添加されたブロックコポリマー中のモノアルケニルアレーンの総量が約20重量%から約80重量であり;並びに
f.各Bブロック中のモノアルケニルアレーンの重量%が約10%と約75%の間であり、
但し、Aブロックが存在しない場合には、各Bブロックは、共役ジエン単位に富む末端領域を含み、及びモノアルケニルアレーン単位に富む1つ又はそれ以上の非末端単位を含み、並びに、2以上のAブロックが存在する場合には、各Aブロックが約5000未満の分子量を有する、
ポリマー粘度指数(VI)改良剤。 - 前記モノアルケニルアレーンがスチレンであり、及び前記共役ジエンがイソプレン及びブタジエンからなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載のVI改良剤。
- 前記共役ジエンがブタジエンであり及びブロックB中の縮合されたブタジエン単位の約15から約30モル%が1,2立体配置を有する、請求項2に記載のVI改良剤。
- 前記共役ジエンがブタジエンであり及びブロックB中の縮合されたブタジエン単位の約18から約22モル%が1,2立体配置を有する、請求項2に記載のVI改良剤。
- 前記ポリマーブロックBが約40モル%未満のモノアルケニルアレーンブロック度指数を有する、請求項1に記載のVI改良剤。
- ポリマーがABAポリマーであり、各ブロックBがブタジエン単位対スチレンの最小比を有する中心領域を有し、及び各Aが約5000未満の分子量を有する、請求項2に記載のVI改良剤。
- 各Bブロック中のスチレンの重量%が約10%と約50%の間であり、及び各ブロックBのスチレンブロック度指数が約10%未満であり、前記スチレンブロック度指数はポリマー鎖上に2つのスチレン隣接を有するブロックB中のスチレン単位の割合であると定義される、請求項2に記載のVI改良剤。
- 前記水素添加されたブロックコポリマーが、一般配置(B)m、A−B、A−B−A、(A−B)n、(A−B−A)n、(A−B)n−A、(A−B−A)nX、(A−B)nX、(B−A−B)n、(B−A−B)nX又はこれらの混合物(nは、2から約60の整数であり、Xはカップリング剤残基、及びmは1から約60の整数である。)を有する、請求項1に記載のVI改良剤。
- 前記水素添加されたブロックポリマーが一般配置(B)nを有し、Bブロックの各々が共役ジエン単位に富む末端領域及びモノアルケニルアレーンに富む1つ又はそれ以上の非末端領域を含む、請求項8に記載のVI改良剤。
- 前記水素添加されたブロックコポリマーがS−EB/S型ポリマーであり、Sブロックが約30,000から約50,000の分子量を有し、EB/SブロックのEB単位が約50,000から約65,000の分子量を有し、EB/SブロックのS単位が約30,000から約40,000の分子量を有し、ブタジエン二重結合の少なくとも90%を除去するためにEB/Sブロックが選択的に水素添加されており、EB/Sブrックのスチレン含量が約30から約40重量%であり、1,2/1,4−ブタジエン比が約15/85から約30/70であり、及びS−EB/S型ポリマーの総スチレン含量が約50から約65である、請求項1に記載のVI改良剤。
- 基油;及び
請求項1から10の何れか一項に記載のポリマー粘度指数改良剤の粘度改良量
を含む、油組成物。 - 抗腐食性添加物、抗酸化剤、界面活性剤、流動点降下剤又は前記水素添加された陰イオン性ブロックコポリマーとは異なるさらなるVI改良剤の少なくとも1つをさらに含む、請求項11に記載の油組成物。
- 基油の少なくとも75重量%;及び
請求項1から10の何れか一項に記載のポリマー粘度指数改良剤の5%から25重量%
を含む、油組成物のためのポリマー性濃縮物。 - 抗腐食性添加物、抗酸化剤、界面活性剤、流動点降下剤又は前記水素添加された陰イオン性ブロックコポリマーとは異なるさらなるVI改良剤の少なくとも1つをさらに含む、請求項13に記載のポリマー性濃縮物。
