Claims (12)
- 医療の用途において光を送るのに適しているハンドピースであって、
近端及び遠端を有する中央シャフトアセンブリであって、
i.近端フェルールと、
ii.遠端フェルールと、
iii.前記近端フェルールと前記遠端フェルールとの間に延在する光ファイバと
を備える、中央シャフトアセンブリと、
前記中央シャフトアセンブリを実質的に包囲する把持可能な外側本体と
を備える、ハンドピース。 - 前記中央シャフトアセンブリは、中央シャフト本体をさらに備える、請求項1記載のハンドピース。
- 前記本体の材料の温度膨張/収縮特性は、前記フェルールまたは前記光ファイバ、もしくはその両方の温度膨張/収縮特性に概ね一致する、請求項1または2記載のハンドピース。

- 前記光ファイバは前記中央シャフトまたは前記外側本体、もしくはその両方の中に気密封止され、前記光ファイバを著しく劣化させることなく、前記ハンドピースを滅菌できるようにする、請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
- 前記ハンドピースを光源光学構成要素に接続するのを助けるために、前記シャフトアセンブリの前記近端に保持スリーブをさらに備える、請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
- 先端であって、少なくとも前記外側本体及び前記先端は、前記遠端フェルールから、使い捨て可能であり、取り付け可能であり、取り外し可能であり、かつ、前記本体及び前記先端は、取り付けられる際に、前記遠端フェルール及び前記光ファイバを覆う、先端をさらに備える、請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
- 前記光ファイバの1つまたは複数の特性は、前記光ファイバに光を送る光源ファイバの1つまたは複数の特性と一致するように構成される、請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
- 前記光ファイバおよび前記光源ファイバの前記1つまたは複数の特性は、前記光ファイバおよび前記光源ファイバの直径、および前記光ファイバおよび前記光源ファイバの前記直径の公差を含む、請求項8記載のハンドピース。
- 前記近端フェルールまたは前記遠端フェルール、もしくはその両方は前記ハンドピースの前記外側本体よりも外側に延在し、それにより、前記近端フェルールまたは前記遠端フェルール、もしくはその両方にアクセスすることができるようにし、それにより、前記近端フェルールまたは前記遠端フェルール、もしくはその両方の洗浄または研磨もしくはその両方を実施できるようにする、請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
- 前記本体、前記近端フェルール、前記遠端フェルール、前記光ファイバ、またはそれらの任意の組み合わせは、前記ハンドピースを高い温度にさらしても、前記ハンドピースの光学特性への影響が最小限に抑えられるように構成される、請求項1乃至10のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
- 前記近端フェルールは、標準的なサイズのコネクタを有する前記光源ファイバに接続できるようにする標準的なサイズで設けられる、請求項1乃至11のいずれか一項記載のハンドピース。
