Abstract
【解決手段】 1組のヒータ77A,77Bを備えている。ヒータ77A,77Bは、トラック中心線5に対して実質的に直交する方向に、かつトラック中心線5に関して対称位置(オフトラック領域)に配置されている。オフトラック領域に熱が集中するため、平坦なABS100のオフトラック領域に対応する位置に最大の突出部が形成される。突出部を広範囲にわたって生じさせることが可能になり、トラック中心線5での主磁極、記録ギャップ層(WG)および再生ギャップ層(RG)への接触ストレスが抑制される。

Claims (12)
- 記録ヘッドおよび再生ヘッドを備えると共に、記録媒体の表面に対向して空気ベアリング面(ABS)を有する記録/再生ヘッドであって、
前記記録媒体のトラック中心線に直交する方向に、かつ前記トラック中心線に関して互いに対称的な位置関係になるように配置されると共に、互いに電気的に結合された1組のヒータを有する熱発生部と、
前記熱発生部と、前記熱発生部を作動させるための電流源との間を電気的に結合する結合手段と
を含むことを特徴とする記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記熱発生部は、前記再生ヘッド上の上部シールド層の上に形成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記1組のヒータはそれぞれ高抵抗かつ熱膨張係数の大きな材料により形成されると共に、互いに低抵抗素子により電気的に接続されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記1組のヒータは、15μmの距離を隔てて配置されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記1組のヒータは、30μmの距離を隔てて配置されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記1組のヒータは、100μm未満の距離を隔てて配置されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記1組のヒータはそれぞれ高抵抗かつ熱膨張係数の大きな伝導素子により形成されており、前記ヒータによる温度上昇時において平坦な空気ベアリング面に最大の突出部を形成する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 前記空気ベアリング面に生じる最大の突出部は、前記再生ヘッドから横方向に離れた位置において発生する
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の記録/再生ヘッド。 - 記録ヘッドおよび再生ヘッドを備えると共に、記録媒体の表面に対向して空気ベアリング面(ABS)を有する記録/再生ヘッドの製造方法であって、
スライダ基板上に再生ヘッドを形成する工程と、
前記再生ヘッド上に上部シールド層を形成する工程と、
前記上部シールド層上の前記再生ヘッドを囲む位置であって、記録媒体のトラック中心線に直交する方向に、かつ前記トラック中心線に対して互いに対称的な位置関係になるよう1組のヒータを設けることにより熱発生部を形成する工程と、
前記1組のヒータの対応する一方の端部同士を低抵抗素子により電気的に接続させる工程と、
前記ヒータの対応する他方の端部同士を電源に電気的に接続させる工程と、
前記熱発生部および上部シールド層を覆うように絶縁層を形成する工程と、
前記絶縁層の上に記録ヘッドを形成する工程と
を含むことを特徴とする記録/再生ヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記1組のヒータを15μmの距離を隔てて分離する
ことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の記録/再生ヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記1組のヒータを30μmの距離を隔てて分離する
ことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の記録/再生ヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記1組のヒータを100μm未満の距離を隔てて分離する
ことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の記録/再生ヘッドの製造方法。
