Abstract
【解決手段】 排気通路3における、過給機5のタービン5bより上流側の部分と排気浄化手段4の前端面4a近傍の部分とを連通し、内燃機関1の排気の少なくとも一部を流通させるバイパス通路7を設け、このバイパス通路7から排出される排気を排気浄化手段4の前端面4aの横方向から該前端面4aに向けて吹きつけることによって、排気浄化手段4の前端面4aに堆積した粒子状物質を吹き飛ばす。

Description
内燃機関の排気通路にタービンが配置された過給機と、
前記タービンより下流側の前記排気通路に設けられた酸化機能を有する排気浄化手段と、
規定条件が成立したときに該排気浄化手段の上流側から該排気浄化手段に未燃燃料成分を供給する未燃燃料成分供給手段と、
前記タービンより上流側の前記排気通路に一端が接続され、該一端から流入した排気が前記過給機をバイパスして流通すると共に、この流通した排気が前記排気浄化手段の前端面の横方向から該前端面に向けて排出されるように前記排気浄化手段の前端面近傍の前記排気通路に他端が接続されたバイパス通路と、
該バイパス通路に排気を流通させるか否かを切り換えるバイパス切り換え手段と、
前記タービンより上流側の前記排気通路内の圧力と、前記タービンより下流側であって且つ前記排気浄化手段より上流側の前記排気通路内の圧力との差を検出する圧力差検出手段と、
を備え、
前記圧力差検出手段によって検出される圧力差が規定圧力差以上のときに前記バイパス切り換え手段によって前記バイパス通路に排気を流通させることで、該排気を前記排気浄化手段の前端面の横方向から該前端面に吹きつけることを特徴とする。

図1は、本実施例に係る内燃機関およびその吸排気系の概略構成を示す図である。内燃機関1には、吸気通路2および排気通路3が接続されている。吸気通路2には、エアフロメータ11が設置されている。また、エアフロメータ11より下流側の吸気通路2には、ターボチャージャ5のコンプレッサハウジング5aが設置されており、一方、排気通路3には、ターボチャージャ5のタービンハウジング5bが設置されている。

本実施例においては、排気中のPMがフィルタ4に捕集され徐々に堆積するため、フィルタ4に堆積したPM堆積量が過剰に増加する前に、フィルタ4からPMを除去するためにPM除去制御が実行される。
そこで、本実施例では、前端面堆積PMを除去するためのフィルタ前端面堆積PM除去制御が行われる。以下、本実施例に係るフィルタ前端面堆積PM除去制御ルーチンについて図2に示すフローチャート図に基づいて説明する。本ルーチンは、内燃機関1の運転中に規定実行時間毎に実行されるルーチンである。
本実施例において、バイパス排気制御弁8が開弁されると、タービンハウジング5bより上流側の排気通路3を流れる排気の一部がバイパス通路7を流通することになるため、ターボチャージャ5を駆動させる排気の量が減少し過給圧が低下する虞がある。

ここで、本実施例に係るフィルタ前端面堆積PM除去制御ルーチンについて図7に示すフローチャート図に基づいて説明する。尚、本ルーチンにおける、上記説明した図3に示すフィルタ前端面堆積PM除去制御ルーチンと同様のステップには同様の参照番号を付しその説明を省略する。本ルーチンも、前記と同様、内燃機関1の運転中に規定実行時間毎に実行されるルーチンである。
図8は、本実施例に係る内燃機関およびその吸排気系の概略構成を示す図である。尚、図7においては、上記説明した図1に示す内燃機関およびその吸排気系の概略構成と同様の構成には同様の参照番号を付しその説明を省略する。

Claims (6)
- 内燃機関の排気通路にタービンが配置された過給機と、
前記タービンより下流側の前記排気通路に設けられた酸化機能を有する排気浄化手段と、
規定条件が成立したときに該排気浄化手段の上流側から該排気浄化手段に未燃燃料成分を供給する未燃燃料成分供給手段と、
前記タービンより上流側の前記排気通路に一端が接続され、該一端から流入した排気が前記過給機をバイパスして流通すると共に、この流通した排気が前記排気浄化手段の前端面の横方向から該前端面に向けて排出されるように前記排気浄化手段の前端面近傍の前記排気通路に他端が接続されたバイパス通路と、
該バイパス通路に排気を流通させるか否かを切り換えるバイパス切り換え手段と、
前記タービンより上流側の前記排気通路内の圧力と、前記タービンより下流側であって且つ前記排気浄化手段より上流側の前記排気通路内の圧力との差を検出する圧力差検出手段と、を備え、
前記圧力差検出手段によって検出される圧力差が規定圧力差以上のときに前記バイパス切り換え手段によって前記バイパス通路に排気を流通させることで、該排気を前記排気浄化手段の前端面の横方向から該前端面に吹きつけることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記バイパス通路の他端の開口部が前記排気浄化手段の前端面に接しており、且つ、前記バイパス通路の他端が、該バイパス通路と排気通路とが略直交するように排気通路に接続されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記排気浄化手段の前端面に堆積した粒子状物質の量である前端面堆積PM量を検出する前端面堆積PM量検出手段をさらに備え、
前記前端面堆積PM量検出手段によって検出された前端面堆積PM量が規定堆積量以上となったときに、前記バイパス切り換え手段によって前記バイパス通路に排気を流通させることで該排気を前記排気浄化手段の前端面の横方向から該前端面に吹きつけることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記バイパス通路に排気を流通させるときに、前記圧力差検出手段によって検出される圧力差が大きいほど、前記バイパス通路を流通する排気の流量を少なくするバイパス流量制御手段をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記内燃機関の吸気通路に一端が接続され、前記タービンより上流側の排気通路に他端が接続されたEGR通路を有するEGR装置をさらに備え、
前記バイパス通路に排気を流通させたときに、過給圧が目標過給圧より低い場合は、前記EGR通路を流通するEGRガス量を前記バイパス通路に排気を流通させる前よりも減少させることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記排気浄化手段より下流側の前記排気通路に設けられ、酸化機能を有すると共に排気中の粒子状物質を捕集するパティキュレートフィルタと、
前記排気通路における、前記バイパス通路の他端の開口部に対向する部分に一端が接続され、前記排気浄化手段と前記パティキュレートフィルタとの間の前記排気通路に他端が接続された接続通路と、
をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
