Description

Claims (20)
- 磁気記録媒体(94)に情報ビットを書き込むための書き込みヘッド(66)であって、
第1の方向に第1の磁場を生成する第1の書き込み磁極(72)と、
第2の磁場を生成し、その結果、前記第1の書き込み磁極と第2の書き込み磁極からの結合磁場が実質的に前記第1の方向に沿って、または前記第1の方向と実質的に直交する第2の方向で存在する、第2の書き込み磁極(70)とを備え、前記第2の書き込み磁極は、スピン伝達トルクによって磁化が制御される自由層(76)と、前記自由層と前記第1の書き込み磁極との間に配置された第1のスペーサ(82)とを含む、書き込みヘッド。 - 固着層(78)と、
この固着層と前記自由層との間に配置された第2のスペーサ(80)とをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の書き込みヘッド。 - 前記第1の書き込み磁極における磁化方向を制御する手段(74)と、
前記自由層の磁化方向を制御するために、前記固着層、前記第2のスペーサ、および前記自由層を通過して電流を流す手段(84、86)とをさらに備える、請求項2に記載の書き込みヘッド。 - 前記固着層が、
1層が反強磁性体または硬磁性体のいずれかに交換結合された合成反強磁性体、反強磁性体に結合された強磁性体交換層、硬磁性材料の層、または硬磁性体に交換結合された強磁性体層の1つを含む、請求項2に記載の書き込みヘッド。 - 前記第2のスペーサが、銅、銀または金の1つを含む、請求項2に記載の書き込みヘッド。
- 前記第1の磁極が、
前記第1の書き込み磁極、および復帰磁極を含むヨーク(138)と、
前記ヨーク中に磁場を誘起するための第1のコイル(144)とを含む、請求項1に記載の書き込みヘッド。 - 磁気記憶媒体(16)を回転させる手段(14)と、
前記磁気記憶媒体の表面に隣接して書き込みヘッドを配置する手段(18)とを備えるディスク駆動であって、
前記書き込みヘッドが、第1の方向に第1の磁場を生成する第1の書き込み磁極(72)と、第2の磁場を生成し、その結果、前記第1の書き込み磁極および第2の書き込み磁極からの結合磁場が実質的に第1の方向に沿って、または第1の方向と実質的に直交する第2の方向で存在する、第2の書き込み磁極(70)とを含み、
前記第2の書き込み磁極は、スピン伝達トルクによって磁化が制御される自由層(76)と、前記自由層と前記第1の書き込み磁極との間に配置された第1のスペーサ(82)とを含む、ディスク駆動。 - 前記書き込みヘッドが、

1層が反強磁性体または硬磁性体のいずれかに交換結合された合成反強磁性体、反強磁性体に結合された強磁性体交換層、硬磁性材料の層、または硬磁性体に交換結合された強磁性体層の1つを含む、請求項8に記載のディスク駆動。 - 前記第2のスペーサが、銅、銀または金の1つを含む、請求項8に記載のディスク駆動。
- 前記第1の磁極が、
前記第1の書き込み磁極、および復帰磁極を含むヨーク(138)と、
前記ヨーク中に磁場を誘起するための第1のコイル(144)とを含む、請求項7に記載のディスク駆動。 - 磁性記憶媒体に書き込む方法であって、
第1の書き込み磁極(72)および第2の書き込み磁極(70)を使用して、第1の方向に第1の磁場を生成し、磁気記憶媒体中の磁区の磁化方向で第1の変化を生成するステップと、
前記第1の磁場を取り除くステップと、
前記第1の書き込み磁極および前記第2の書き込み磁極を使用して、前記第1の方向と実質的に直行して存在する第2の磁場を生成して、前記磁気記憶媒体中の磁区の磁化方向を切り替えるステップとを含み、前記第1および第2の書き込み磁極の1つが、スピン伝達トルクによって磁化が制御される自由層を含む方法。 - 前記第1の磁場が、下りトラック方向または横トラック方向に1つに配向されている、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記第1および第2の磁場のそれぞれが、磁気記憶媒体の磁気異方性よりも小さい大きさを有する、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 磁気記憶媒体が、
硬磁性体の上部層と、前記硬磁性体の上部層に隣接する軟磁性体の底部層とを有するディスク(94)を含む、請求項13に記載の方法。 - 第1の書き込み磁極と第2の書き込み磁極を使用して、第1の方向に第1の磁場を生成する前記ステップが、前記第1の書き込み磁極に第1の電流パルスを流し、第2の書き込み磁極に第2の電流パルスを流すステップを含み、第1の書き込み磁極と第2の書き込み磁極を使用して第2の磁場を生成する前記ステップが、第2の書き込み磁極に第3の電流パルスを流すステップを含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記第2および第3の電流パルス間の遷移が、磁気記憶媒体の緩和時間よりも短い期間だけ時間で分離されている、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 第1の書き込み磁極を使用して、第1の方向に第1の磁場を生成する前記ステップが、前記第1の書き込み磁極に一連の電流パルスを流すステップを含み、前記電流パルスが、前記第1の書き込み磁極内の自由層のスピン歳差運動を抑制するように調時されている、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の磁場を生成するステップが、前記第2の書き込み磁極に追加の電流パルスを流すステップを含む、請求項19に記載の方法。
