Description
先ず、図1を参照して電気光学装置の概略構成について説明する。ここに、図1は、本実施形態に係る電気光学装置の全体構成を示すブロック図である。
次に、上述した電気光学装置1の製造プロセスについて、図4から図11を参照して説明する。ここに、図4は、電気光学装置1の製造プロセスの開始における配線基板200の図3に対応する断面の構成を示す図である。また、図5は、単位回路275の転写に用いられる他の基板の構成を示す断面図である。更に、図6から図10は、製造プロセスの各工程における図3に対応する断面の構成を、順を追って示す工程図である。加えて、図11は、有機EL素子72の形成について説明するための断面図である。
次に、図1及び図2を参照して電気光学装置1の動作について説明すると共に、図12から図15を参照して電気光学装置1の表示例について説明する。図12(a)は、電気光学装置1の画像表示領域110に表示される表示画像の一例を示す図であって、図12(b)は、図12(a)の画像表示が行われる画像表示領域110の構成に係る説明図である。また、図13(a)は、電気光学装置1の画像表示領域110に表示される表示画像の他の例を示す図であって、図13(b)は、図13(a)の画像表示が行われる画像表示領域110の構成に係る説明図である。更に、図14(a)は、電気光学装置1の画像表示領域110に表示される表示画像の他の例を示す図であって、図14(b)は、図14(a)の画像表示が行われる画像表示領域110の構成に係る説明図である。加えて、図15(a)は、電気光学装置1の画像表示領域110に表示される表示画像の他の例を示す図であって、図15(b)は、図15(a)の画像表示が行われる画像表示領域110の構成に係る説明図である。
以上説明した本実施形態に係る変形例について説明する。図1に示す電気光学装置1において、画像表示領域110を、複数の第1画素部70a及び複数の第2画素部70bが夫々マトリクス配置される領域及びセグメント配置される領域を含むように構成してもよい。
次に、上述した電気光学装置1が各種の電子機器に適用される場合について説明する。
先ず、この電気光学装置を、モバイル型のパーソナルコンピュータに適用した例について説明する。図17は、このパーソナルコンピュータの構成を示す斜視図である。図において、コンピュータ1200は、キーボード1202を備えた本体部1204と、電気光学装置を用いて構成された表示ユニット1206とを備えている。
さらに、この電気光学装置を、携帯電話に適用した例について説明する。図18は、この携帯電話の構成を示す斜視図である。図において、携帯電話1300は、複数の操作ボタン1302とともに、有機ELパネルを有する電気光学装置を備えるものである。尚、図18中、有機ELパネルには符号1005を付して示してある。

- 一基板上の画像表示領域に設けられた、アクティブ素子を含んでなる第1画素部及び前記アクティブ素子を含まない第2画素部と、
前記第1画素部をアクティブ駆動する第1駆動手段と、
前記第2画素部をパッシブ駆動する第2駆動手段と
を備えたこと
を特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 前記基板上には、前記第1画素部及び前記第2画素部と対応する配線が設けられており、
前記第1画素部には、対応する前記配線と前記アクティブ素子とを電気的に接続する接続電極が設けられていること
を特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記第1画素部及び前記第2画素部は表示素子として発光素子を含んでなることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記画像表示領域は、前記第1画素部及び前記第2画素部が、マトリクス配置される領域及びセグメント配置される領域を含んでなること
を特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記第1画素部は前記マトリクス配置される領域に設けられると共に、前記第2画素部は前記セグメント配置される領域に設けられること
を特徴とする請求項4に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記第1画素部及び前記第2画素部はマトリクス配置されていること
を特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記第1駆動手段から出力される第1駆動信号、及び前記第2駆動手段から出力される第2駆動信号に応じて、
前記画像表示領域において、車両用インストルメントパネルの画像表示を行うこと
を特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。 - 請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置を具備してなることを特徴とする電子機器。
- 複数の配線が形成されると共に、該複数の配線により規定される第1形成領域及び第2形成領域のうち、前記第1形成領域に前記配線に接続される接続電極が形成された配線基板に対して、他の基板上に形成されたアクティブ素子を前記接続電極に対応させて部分的に転写する工程と、
前記第1形成領域及び前記第2形成領域に対応させて、前記複数の配線に接続される中継配線を導電性材料を用いて形成する工程と、
前記中継配線に接続される表示素子を形成する工程とを含むこと
を特徴とする電気光学装置の製造方法。 - 前記アクティブ素子を転写する工程後、前記表示素子を形成する工程前に、
前記アクティブ素子の上部に層間絶縁膜を形成する工程と、
該層間絶縁膜に対して平坦化処理を行う工程と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の電気光学装置の製造方法。 - 前記表示素子を形成する工程では、該表示素子として発光素子が形成されること
を特徴とする請求項9又は10に記載の電気光学装置の製造方法。
