Claims (4)

  1. 再生素子を具備する再生部と、下部磁極、上部磁極、コイル、および非磁性絶縁層を具備する記録部とを複合した薄膜磁気ヘッドにおいて、
    上記下部磁極は下部磁極主層と下部磁極先端部と段差突起部とを有し、
    上記下部磁極先端部は上記下部磁極主層の上に形成され、
    上記突起段差部は上記下部磁極先端部の上に形成され、
    上記コイルは下部磁極主層と上部磁極の間に配置され、
    上記非磁性絶縁層は上記下部磁極主層の上に形成され、上記突起段差部の浮上面と反対側に形成され、
    該突起段差部は、トラック幅方向の幅が上記下部磁極主層の幅より小さく、かつ、浮上面よりヘッド後部方向に離れた位置における幅が上記上部磁極の幅より大きいことを特徴とする薄膜磁気ヘッド。
  2. 上記突起段差部は浮上面より第一間隔離れた位置より上記上部磁極の幅より幅が広く、
    上記第一間隔は上記上部磁極が浮上面より上記突起段差部と対向する領域の距離より短いことを特徴とする請求項１に記載の薄膜磁気ヘッド。
  3. 上記突起段差部は浮上面より上記第一間隔離れた位置よりヘッド後部方向に向かって幅が増加することを特徴とする請求項２に記載の薄膜磁気ヘッド。
  4. 上記突起段差部の浮上面における幅は上記上部磁極のトラック幅方向の幅とほぼ同一であることを特徴とする請求項２に記載の薄膜磁気ヘッド。
