【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、容器を透過する酸
素や炭酸ガス等に起因した内容物の品質劣化を抑制する
とともに、それ自身の耐熱性を高めた合成樹脂製容器お
よびその製造方法に関するものである。

【従来の技術】ペットボトルに代表されるような合成樹
脂製の容器は、軽量で取り扱いが容易であること、ま
た、透明性を確保できガラス製の容器に比較して遜色の
ない外観を呈すること、しかも、コスト的にも安価であ
ることから、近年、食品や飲料、化粧料あるいは薬剤等
を収納する容器として多用されている。
【0003】ところで、合成樹脂製の容器は、容器本体
を通して酸素や炭酸ガスが透過するのが避けられないた
め、内容物の品質を保持できる期間、いわゆる、シェル

小さく、ポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂(PET)か
らなる容器では、85〜87℃程度が限界であって、と
くに、内容物としてかかる温度を超えるようなものを充
てんする場合においては熱収縮による形状変形が避け難
く、用途範囲を拡大するにも限界がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】本発明の課題は、合成
樹脂製の容器における上述のような従来の問題を解消で
きる新規な容器とその製造方法を提案するところにあ
る。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明は、母相にガスバ
リヤ材をブレンドしてなる合成樹脂製の容器であって、
前記容器は、加熱処理工程を挟む少なくとも2回の2軸
延伸ブロー成形工程を経て作製されたものである、こと
を特徴とするガスバリヤ性、耐熱性に優れた合成樹脂性
容器である。
【0007】上記の構成になる容器において、母相はポ
リエチレンテレフタレート樹脂とし、ガスバリヤ材はメ
タキシリレン基含有ポリアミド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステ
ル樹脂もしくはエチレンナフタレート−エチレンテレフ
タレート共重合樹脂のうちの何れか1つとするのが望ま
しい。
【0008】また、本発明は、母相にガスバリヤ材をブ
レンドしたベース層と、ガスバリヤ性の高い保護層を交
互に重ね合わせた多層構造よりなる合成樹脂製の容器で
あって、前記容器は、加熱処理工程を挟む少なくとも2
回の2軸延伸ブロー成形工程を経て作製されたものであ
る、ことを特徴とするガスバリヤ性、耐熱性に優れた合
成樹脂性容器であり、ここに、母相はポリエチレンテレ
フタレート樹脂とし、ガスバリヤ材はメタキシリレン基
含有ポリアミド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂もしくは
エチレンナフタレート−エチレンテレフタレート共重合
樹脂のうちの何れか1つとするのが望ましい。
【0009】保護層としては、メタキシリレン基含有ポ
リアミド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂、エチレンナフ
タレート−エチレンテレフタレート共重合樹脂もしくは
エチレン−ビニルアルコール共重合樹脂のうちの何れか
1つを用いることができる。
【0010】また、本発明は、加熱処理を挟んで2回の
2軸延伸ブロー成形を行うことにより合成樹脂製の容器
を製造するに当たり、前記ブロー成形に際して、母相に
ガスバリヤ材をブレンドした合成樹脂よりなるプリフォ
ームを用いることを特徴とするガスバリヤ性、耐熱性に
優れた合成樹脂製容器の製造方法である。
【0011】プリフォームとしては、母相にガスバリヤ
材をブレンドしたベース層と、ガスバリヤ性の高い保護
層を交互に重ね合わせた多層構造体としたものを用いる
ことができる。

【発明の実施の形態】以下、図面を参照して本発明をよ
り具体的に説明する。図1は本発明に従う合成樹脂製の
500ml耐熱・耐圧容器の外観を模式的に示したもの
である。
【0013】図において1は容器本体、2は容器本体1
に一体的に設けられた口部である。
【0014】本発明においては、ポリエチレンテレフタ
レート樹脂を例えば母相1aとした場合、この樹脂の中
にガスバリヤ材gをブレンドするものであって、これに
よって酸素等の透過が抑制されガスバリヤ性が改善され
る。
【0015】かかる容器は、母相1aに対してガスバリ
ヤ材gをブレンドして射出成形や押出し成形等を経て得
られた図2に示すようなプリフォームP(口元を結晶化
(白化)したもの)を用い、これを延伸効果を発現でき
る例えば70〜130℃、より好ましくは90〜120
℃程度に加熱し、50〜230℃、より好ましくは70
〜180℃、延伸表面積倍率4〜22倍(より好ましく
は6〜15倍、容量で完成品よりも1.2〜2.5倍程
度のオーバーサイズ)とする条件下に1回目の2軸延伸
によるブロー成形を行い、次いで、得られたブロー成形
品に110〜255℃、より好ましくは130〜200
℃のもとで、完成品より0.60〜0.95倍程度まで
収縮させる強制的な加熱処理を施して内部の残留応力を
除去し、さらに、60〜170℃、より好ましくは80
〜150℃の温度域で2回目の2軸延伸によるブロー成
形を行うことにより得ることができる。
【0016】上記のように、加熱処理を挟む少なくとも
2回の2軸延伸ブロー成形を経て製造された容器は、そ
の本体部分における残留応力が極めて軽減され、かつ、
樹脂の密度が上昇するため、外部からの熱に対する強度
が高められる(耐熱性の改善)とともに、ガスバリヤ性
がより一層改善される。
【0017】図3(a)〜(d)には、1.5L耐熱容
器のプリフォームの状態から成形品に至るまでの各段階
における外観形状を模式的に示す。図中P は1次ブ
ロー中間体、P は加熱処理後の1次ブロー中間体を
示したものである。
【0018】図4(a)(b)は本発明に従う容器の要
部を拡大して示した他の構成例を示したものであって、
母相1aにガスバリヤ材gをブレンドしたものをベース
層b とし、ガスバリヤ性の高いものを保護層b
してこれらを交互に重ね合わせた多層構造(2種3層あ
るいは2種5層等)とすることができ、この場合、ガス
バリヤ性を著しく高めることができるため、シェルフラ
イフをより一層延長することが可能になる。
【0019】上掲図4(a)(b)に示したような多層
構造になる容器は、かかる構造を有するプリフォームを
用いることによってその成形が可能になる。本発明で
は、2種3層、2種5層を例として示したが、積層構造
についてはとくに限定されるものではなく、容器の用途
に応じて適宜に変更できる。
【0020】母相1aを構成する樹脂はポリエチレンテ
レフタレートの他、ポリブチレンテレフタレートやポリ
エチレンナフタレート等の飽和ポリエステル系熱可塑性
合成樹脂を使用することができる。
【0021】かかる母相1aにブレンドすることができ
るバリヤ材としては、メタキシリレン基含有ポリアミド
樹脂として、例えばポリメタキシリレンアジパミド樹脂
(商品名MXD−6:三菱ガス化学)が好適であり、こ
の他に、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂、例えばテレフタル
酸、イソフタル酸、エチレングリコール、その他ジール
成分体等の共重合体やエチレンナフタレート−エチレン
テレフタレート共重合樹脂がある。
【0022】バリヤ材の配合割合は、成形性等を考慮し
た場合0.5〜10mass%、好ましくは7mass
%を上限とするのが好ましい割合であるが、国内におけ
るリサイクルの観点を考慮すると、5mass%未満とする
のが好ましい。
【0023】保護層b としては、メタキシリレン基
含有ポリアミド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂、エチレ
ンナフタレート−エチレンテレフタレート共重合樹脂あ
るいはエチレン−ビニルアルコール共重合樹脂(EVO
H)等を用いることができる。

【実施例】図5(a)〜(c)に示したような耐熱角ボ
トル(350ml、500ml)を作製すべく、PET樹
脂単体のプリフォームを用いて一回のブロー成形(シン
グルブロー)を行った場合と、PET樹脂にバリヤ材を
ブレンドしたプリフォームを用いて加熱処理を挟む2回
のブロー成形(ダブルブロー)を行った場合のそれぞれ
について得られた容器の酸素透過量、比率(酸素透過比
率)およびシェルフライフについて調査した。その結果
を表1および表2にそれぞれ示す。

【0029】表1、表2より明らかなように、本発明に
従う容器においては、酸素透過量を格段に低減すること
が可能であり、シェルフライフを著しく延長できること
が確認できた。
【0030】耐熱性については、シングルブローによる
ものでは、内容物の温度が85〜87℃程度で形状変形
が生じたのに対して、本発明に従う容器においては、9
0〜93℃程度までは形状変形が生じることはなく耐熱
性に関しても著しい改善が見られた。

【発明の効果】本発明によれば、耐熱性は勿論のこと、
ガスバリヤ性を高めることができるので、容器の用途の
拡大を図ることができるだけでなく、内容物の品質を長
期にわたった保持できる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 母相にガスバリヤ材をブレンドしてなる
    合成樹脂製の容器であって、 前記容器は、加熱処理工程を挟む少なくとも2回の2軸
    延伸ブロー成形工程を経て作製されたものである、こと
    を特徴とするガスバリヤ性、耐熱性に優れた合成樹脂性
    容器。
  2. 【請求項2】 母相がポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂
    であり、ガスバリヤ材がメタキシリレン基含有ポリアミ
    ド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂もしくはエチレンナフ
    タレート−エチレンテレフタレート共重合樹脂のうちの
    何れか1つである、請求項1記載の合成樹脂製容器。
  3. 【請求項3】 母相にガスバリヤ材をブレンドしたベー
    ス層と、ガスバリヤ性の高い保護層を交互に重ね合わせ
    た多層構造よりなる合成樹脂製の容器であって、 前記容器は、加熱処理工程を挟む少なくとも2回の2軸
    延伸ブロー成形工程を経て作製されたものである、こと
    を特徴とするガスバリヤ性、耐熱性に優れた合成樹脂性
    容器。
  4. 【請求項4】 母相がポリエチレンテレフタレート樹脂
    であり、ガスバリヤ材がメタキシリレン基含有ポリアミ
    ド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂もしくはエチレンナフ
    タレート−エチレンテレフタレート共重合樹脂のうちの
    何れか1つである、請求項3記載の合成樹脂製容器。
  5. 【請求項5】 保護層が、メタキシリレン基含有ポリア
    ミド樹脂、非晶質ポリエステル樹脂、エチレンナフタレ
    ート−エチレンテレフタレート共重合樹脂もしくはエチ
    レン−ビニルアルコール共重合樹脂のうちの何れか1つ
    よりなる、請求項3記載の合成樹脂製容器。
  6. 【請求項6】 加熱処理を挟んで2回の2軸延伸ブロー
    成形を行うことにより合成樹脂製の容器を製造するに当
    たり、 前記ブロー成形に際して、母相にガスバリヤ材をブレン
    ドした合成樹脂よりなるプリフォームを用いることを特
    徴とするガスバリヤ性、耐熱性に優れた合成樹脂製容器
    の製造方法。
  7. 【請求項7】 プリフォームが、母相にガスバリヤ材を
    ブレンドしたベース層と、ガスバリヤ性の高い保護層を
    交互に重ね合わせた多層構造体よりなる、請求項6記載
    の方法。
