Abstract

993,462. Dispensing cartons. AKERLUND & RAUSING. A.B. May 7, 1964 [May 20, 1963], No. 19083/64; Heading B8P. In a package comprising an outer carton 1 and inner bag 2 of flexible material, the carton has a hole 13 around which the inner bag is attached, e.g. by adhesive, so that the bag may be penetrated by a pointed spout 26 without any abutment being required on the inside. The open end of the bag is sealed, e.g. by heat sealing, at the end of the filling operation. Perforations along an end wall of the carton enable portion 19 of the end flap 5 to be detached revealing the opening 13 in the inner end flap 3. The bottom of the inner bag 2 is stretched flat over the opening 13 and the inner bag is attached to the end wall by a narrow encircling layer of adhesive. In order to open the package it is only necessary, after the opening 13 has been exposed, to puncture from the outside the portion 16 of the inner bag wall. This may be conveniently done by means such as the combined opening tool and spout 20 as illustrated.
