Abstract
1,118,696. Lined cartons. O. W. CHRISTENSSON. 20 Sept., 1966, No. 41972/66. Heading B8P. A parallelepipedic container having an inner lining 8 which is sealed at 24 above the container mouth to enclose the contents, has one side 11 provided with a folding line 34 and three of its closing flaps 15, 17, 18 provided with coincident folding lines 28, 31 and 29, 30, along which lines the container may be folded to facilitate dispensing of the contents. As described, the lining 8 is attached to the sides 10-13 and to the closing flaps 15, 17, the corners of which are cut off at 41. After filling and sealing of the liner 8, the flap 18 and then flap 16 are folded over and glued. The package is opened by tearing off the flap 16, pressing the container to cause it to fold along the folding lines (Fig. 4, not shown) and tearing the lining 8 from a cut 27 to form an opening through which the contents may be poured out. The side 11 may have two further folding lines 35, 36. In an alternative embodiment, the flaps (15a, 17a) (Fig. 6, not shown) overlap and overlie the flap (18a). The container may be of cardboard and the lining 8 may be of plastics laminated paper.
