Abstract

928,610. Cartons and blanks therefor. FOILS PACKAGING CORPORATION. Jan. 18, 1961 [Jan. 25, 1960], No. 2061/61. Class 18. A blank for a tubular carton has three end closure flaps 24, 34, 44, of half the width of the adjacent side panels of the carton, each provided with diagonal creases such as 25, 26, and a fourth flap 54 adapted to cover the whole top of the carton. The blank is preferably of plastic-coated cardboard and the end flaps 24, 34, 44, are folded inwards and folded at the crease lines 25, 26 &c. to form triangular flaps 24c, 34c, 44c, Fig. 4, with triangular gussets 32a therebetween. The end flap 54 is then folded in over the triangular flaps and is first heat sealed to the attached triangular flap portions 24a, by heat and pressure at C, and is then fastened down by a tab 57 and heat sealed to the tops of the triangular flaps 24c, 34c, 44c. The flap 54 is arranged so that on opening of the carton the part 54a, Fig. 6, hinges about a crease line 56 to expose flap 34c which, when pulled outwards, forms a pouring spout T.
