Abstract

1432449 Lined cartons J A MALCOLM 26 June 1973 [26 June 1972] 30264/73 Heading B8P [Also in Division B5] A carton of corrugated or uncorrugated paperboard has a lining of polyethylene, with an outer layer of nylon laminated thereto, secured to the carton by adhesive strips. The carton comprises panels 11-14 and a connecting flap 14c, top closure flaps 11a-14a and bottom closure flaps 11b-14b. Adhesive 20, 21 secure the lining 30 to the blank. The lining is sealed at the top 31, the distance d being equal to half the length of the diagonal of the carton so that in the erected carton the lining will be taut. Glue spots 33 on flaps 12b, 13b ensure that the lower end of the liner is held open for easy filling. The carton may be opened by tearing at 17, 18 and folding the top back to give access to the liner which forms a spout, Fig. 11, or a pourer 502, Fig. 16, may be inserted into the liner through an aperture provided mid-way along an edge of the carton top. Handholes 19 are provided in two opposite sides. It can be arranged for the contents of the liner to permeate the liner sufficiently to dissolve the adhesive and so free the liner from the carton.
