Abstract

1,080,036. Sealing cartons. AKERLUND & RAUSING A.B. May 9, 1966 [May 12, 1965], No. 20471/66. Headings B8C and B8P. A package (1) (Fig. 1, not shown) having end flaps (6-9) is closed by sealing at least two separate flexible sheets (12, 13) to the circumference but not over the whole of the region of the open end (14) of the package. As described, a thermoplastic sheet (12) and a thicker thermoplastic or cardboard sheet (13) are sealed to the closing flaps (7) and (9) and to parts (21) and (22) of the flaps (6) and (8) of a box (1) having an inner thermoplastic lining (23) (Fig. 3, not shown) and containing a liquid (20). The opposite flaps (7) and (9) are then folded in and the other two flaps (6) and (8) folded over and heat sealed to each other. The uppermost flap (6) of the box (1) may have two longitudinal perforations to form a tear strip (10) to facilitate subsequent opening of the package.
