Abstract

921,980. Packages. COLODENSE Ltd. June 23, 1961 [July 25, 1960], No. 25814/60. Class 94(2). [Also in Group XV]. An envelope consists of a blank of material, one side of which is heat sealable the end 2<SP>1</SP> being folded,over to form a pouch member with the heat sealable side inwards, and the other end folded along a line 4<SP>1</SP> to form a flap member 6<SP>1</SP> which overlaps the end 5<SP>1</SP>. The member 6<SP>1</SP> is heat sealed to the pouch member 2<SP>1</SP> along a seam 7<SP>1</SP>, leaving a free end to facilitate opening and the envelope is sealed along the edge 9<SP>1</SP>. After the envelope is filled at the edge 11<SP>1</SP>, the pouch is sealed along the line 11<SP>1</SP>. The seam 7<SP>1</SP> is comparatively weak in view of its being made between a heat-sealable and a non-heat-sealable surface. It may be further weakened by over printing. The envelopes can be produced from a continuous length of material folded and sealed as shown in Fig. 4, by heat sealing it transversely at intervals. The material may be laminate of plastics, paper and aluminium foil. Specifications 486,154 and 540,414 are referred to.
