A bag of this general type is described in my co-pending application Serial No. 358,377, filed September 26, 1940, but that bag is enclosedin a foldable cover which holds the bag in folded and closed condition.
One object of my present invention is to provide a bag of the character described which shall embody novel and improved features of construction such that a cover .for the bag shall be unnecessary and the bag shall include means for holding itself folded and closed.
Another object is to provide a novel and improved package of this character which shall comprise a baghaving one end openable for in-" sertion and removal of the contents of the bag, the end portion of the bag being foldable trans versely to close said open end and the other end being formed to cooperate with said foldable end portion for holding the latter folded to close the- 35 and a relatively thick and strong wall between which the contents are disposed so .as to be displayed through said transparent wall; and a further object of the invention is to provide in such a package novel and improved features of construction such that one end portion of the package may be folded to locate and protect said thin wall between portions or said strong wall, and the other end portion of the bag shall be folded and secured to the main portion of the package to cooperate with the first-mentioned end portion and hold the latter folded.
Other objects, advantages and results of the invention will be brought out by the following description in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a package embodying my invention, showing it in partially completed condition.

Figure 3 is a perspective view completed and folded.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view on the line 4-4 of Figure 3.

Figure 6 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view on the line 6-6 of Figure 5, and
Figure 7 is a view similar to Figure 4 showing the package illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 as completed and folded. I
- For the purpose of illustrating the principles of my invention, in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive I have shown the package as comprising two opposed walls I and 2 of packaging material which are of the package secured together to form a bag. Preferably the walls I and 2 comprise separate sheets or strips of packaging material, for example, Cellophane? or Pliofilm," and the sheets either are formed of thermoplastic material, or have thermoplastic coatings on their contacting surfaces, or have adhesive between them, so that the layers can be sealed together by application of heat and pressure or pressure alone.
More specifically, the walls I and 2 are sealed together along opposite longitudinal margins as at 3, and across one end margin as at 4, the other ends of the walls being openable or having an opening 5 between them. Also it is desirable that the sealed zones 3 and 4 be crimped or cor.- rugated and preferably the end marginal zone 4 is so crimped or corrugated that it is substantially rigidified. As shown said marginal zone 4 has corrugations extending longitudinally of the bag.
The sealed end portion of the bag is folded inwardly along the line 6 upon the main portion of the bag and is secured to the latter by again sealing'the layers together along the fold as indicated at l. The marginal zone 4 of said end portion is left in spaced and opposed relation to themain portion of the bag as shown in Figures 3 and 4. I
The other end portion of the bag is foldable along the line 8 to close the bag and the free edge of said end portion is removably insertible between the marginal zone 4 and the main portion of the bag, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, to hold the second-mentioned e/nd portion in said folded condition.
The contents of the-package such as tablets X preferably the walls I and 2 are initially sealed together along the line 8 to tightly close the portion of the bag in which the contents are disposed, said seal being of such nature that a slight pushing action on the content by squeezing the walls of the packagebetween the thumb and forefinger will unseal or separate the walls and allow ejection of the package contents.
A modification of the invention is shown in Figures to 7 inclusive where one wall 9 of the package comprises a thin, transparent and relatively weak sheet of material such as "Cellophane, while the other wall i0 is relatively thick and strong. This wall l0 may be laminated or formed of a plurality of layers of different materials; for example, the wall may comprise an inner layer ll of Cellophane and an outer layer l2 of metal foil or water-proof fabric or paper.
The walls 9 and I0 are sealed together along their longitudinal margins l3 and along one end margin H in the same manner in which the walls I and 2 of the package of Figures 1 to 4 inclusive are sealed. The sealed end portion of the bag is folded inwardly along the line It and secured to the main portion of the bag exactly as is the sealed end portion of the package shown in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive. The other end portion of the bag is folded inwardly along the line l6 which corresponds to the line 8 of Figure 1.
If desired the end margins of the walls 9 and I0 opposite the end margin l4 may be sealed together as at I1 to form a tearing flap for initially completely sealing of the bag and permitting opening of the bag by removal of the flap. To facilitate separation of the flap from the bag the walls of the bag may be scored 'or perforated as at I8.
Both end portions of the bag are folded inwardly over the thin wall 9 so as to locate the thick strong wall In outermost or at the outside of the package when the packageis folded. In thi manner, the thin'wall is located between and protected by portions of the relatively strong wall II) when the package is folded. The package is folded in substantially the same manner as that shown in Figures 1 to 4 inclusive. However, the flap ll initially is folded inwardly and the fold between said flap and the other por- If desired, to facilitate removal or the contents of the package, the openable end portion, 1. e., the portion openable by removal of the flap l1 may have a restricted neck or outlet opening l9 which conveniently can-be formed by cormgating or crimping the walls at opposite longitudinal side edge portions thereof as clearly shown in Figure 5.
What I claim is:
. 1. A package comprising a bag having two opposed walls secured together at their margins, one of which is relatively stronger than the other, one end portion of the bag being folded inwardly upon and secured to the main portion of the bag with the marginal zone of said end portion in spaced opposed relation to the bag, the other end portion of the bag being openable and transversely foldable inwardly upon the main portion of the bag to close the bag, the econd-mentioned end portion being removably insertible between said marginal zone of the first-mentioned end portion of the bag to hold the second-mentioned end portion in folded condition, both of said end portions being folded inwardly over the secondmentionedwall to locate said stronger wall outermost.
2. A package comprising a bag having two opposed walls secured together at their margins, one of which is relatively thin, weak and transparent while the other is laminated, opaque and relatively thick and strong, one end portion of the bag being folded inwardly upon and secured to the main portion of the bag with the marginal zone of said end portion in spaced opposed relation to the bag, the other end portion of the bag being openable and transversely foldable inwardly upon the main portion of the bag to close the bag, the second-mentioned end portion being removably insertible between said marginal zone of the first-mentioned end portion and said main portion of the bag to hold the secondi mentioned end portion in folded condition, both
