Abstract

1532839 Valve bags DAI NIPPON PRINTING CO Ltd 21 Sept 1976 [23 Sept 1975] 39116/76 Heading B8K A flexible bag comprises a tubular body 1, e.g. of thermoplastics film, which is flat when the bag is empty, the end portions of which are formed into outwardly extending flaps and a pair of triangular end portions 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and 3, 3<SP>1</SP> overlapping two sides of the flaps. One end opening is closed by means of a valve sheet 6 one end portion of which is inserted beneath and sealed to the portion 2, and a cover sheet 7 one of which is inserted beneath and sealed to the portion 2<SP>1</SP>. The free end portion of valve sheet 6 is folded up to form a valve portion 13 and the free end portion of the cover sheet 7 extends partially over the portion 13 to form a valve portion 14. The valve portions 13, 14 are bonded together at their edges 15, 16 to form a valve tube, and the sheets 6, 7 are bonded to each other and to the flaps at 11 and 12. The opposite end opening of the tubular body 1 is closed by a closure sheet 8 sealed beneath the portions 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and to the corresponding flaps. The sheets are preferably of thermoplastic film and the bonding is heat-sealing. The valve portions 13, 14 may, as shown be narrower than the rest of the sheets 6 and 7 to enable them to be folded inwards after filling the bag.
