Abstract

1,164,927. Bags. AMERICAN PACKAGING CORP. 28 July, 1967, No. 34871/67. Heading B8K. A bag is made from a frame 10, heat sealed to a sheet of flexible material, e.g. polythene film, the so-formed blank being folded in half with the flexible material inside and the side edges 42, 43 joined, e.g. by heat sealing or adhesive. The flexible material is heated and stretched in the aperture before the blank is folded. Perforations or score lines 36-39 facilitate forming a wide open mouth in the bag for filling &c. by pressing the ends of the bag mouth towards each other. In a modification, the blank has an extra transverse panel symmetrical about the fold lines 20 and constituting a bottom margin for the bag. In both forms perforations 22, 24 are provided so that above these the bag may be sealed, e.g. by heat sealing, adhesive, or stapling, and later opened by tearing at the perforations.
