[Class 94 (ii)] An envelope type package or container for either solid or liquid materials is made from a sheet of flexible material which is doubled upon itself along a transverse median line 18, Fig. 4; and the opposed portions of the thus doubled sheet directly sealed to one another along their otherwise open marginal portions 13.. 15 to form hermetically closed margins. The package is preferably made from flexible heat-sealable material, which may be transparent, the sealing being effected by 'the application of heat and pressure. Preferably, also, the material is crimped simultaneously with the heating and pressing and in one form, Fig. 1, (not shown) the crimping is applied along the 'closed bottom of the package, adjacent to the fold of the original blank. A thread or string 17 to facilitate opening may be secured within the top corners, with the intermediate part of, its length within the inner space 11 of the package. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the two upper edges of the folded blank are each doubled over inwardly to provide four thicknesses of material which are sealed and crimped together. In a further modification, Fig. 8, adapted to facilitate reclosure of the package after opening, a strip 21 of metal foil or like material is located within one or both of the doubled-over edges of the package. After opening, the package may be reclosed by bringing the originally sealed portions back into contact and then doubling them over, with the foilincluding side outermost.
