Abstract
978,679. Crank-shafts; universal joints; shaft couplings. OHLSSON & RICE Inc. Dec. 18, 1963, No. 50044/63. Heading F2U. A two-piece crank-shaft for I.C. engines, pumps, compressors &c. has two arms in the form of discs 24, 25 on the adjacent ends of shaft sections 21, 22, a crank-pin 17 integral with the disc 24 entering a radial slot 32 in the disc 25 and flats 34 on the sides of the crankpin engaging slidably the oppositely-disposed parallel fans of the slot 32. Thus if the two shafts 21, 22 are slightly misaligned, the crank-pin 17 can slide in the slot 32. Shoulders 35 between the flats 34 and the body of the crank-pin 17 engage the inside face of the crank-disc 26.
