Abstract

982,412. Reciprocating pumps. WEATHERHEAD CO. March 9, 1961 [March 28, 1960], No. 8727/61. Heading F1A. In an axial piston pump, a cam 61 driving a swash plate 50 is connected to a drive shaft 15 by splines which permit axial and radial movement between the cam and shaft. The cam 61 is supported on the housing 10 by a bearing 65 having radial grooves 67 for lubricant which forms a wedge shaped film between the cam and bearing. The swash plate 50 is supported by the cam 61 on a bearing 71 which may be fixed to the cam or swash plate; radial grooves are provided at the running face for lubricant. The shaft 15 may carry a pulley for a belt drive, the belt running in a plane passing through the centre 209 of the spline connection. Specification 952,203 is referred to.
