Abstract

595,530. Pistons. JOHANSSON, J. E., and AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. July 5, 1945, No. 17243. [Class 122 (i)] In a piston for internal combustion engines and compressors comprising a skirt 1, preferably of light metal, and a head 2 fastened to the skirt and provided with at least one axial projection 8 which engages a corresponding recess in said skirt and which consists of a material having a smaller coefficient of expansion than the' material of the skirt, resilient members 14 are provided to bridge the clearance between the opposite faces of the projection and recess, thereby obtaining a heat transmitting connection between the piston head and skirt. The resilient members may consist of rings inserted in grooves in the projection, or in the skirt, or corrugated leaf springs.
