Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0972972/C1/1> (wherein R represents an alkylthio, hydroxy-alkylthio or alkylsulphonyl group), and their preparation by (a) treating 2-amino-5-thiocyanobenzophenone with sodium dithionite and alkylating or hydroxyalkylating the product (when R is an alkylthio or hydroxyalkylthio group), or (b) reacting the appropriate p-alkylsulphonylaniline with benzoyl chloride in the presence of zinc chloride (when R is an alkylsulphonyl group).
