Abstract
The invention comprises a compound of formula <FORM:0900155/IV (b)/1> wherein one of R and R1 is benzyl or hydroxybenzyl and the other is H; or a nuclear substituted halogen derivative and the acid addition salts thereof. Specified compounds are 4(and 2)-amino-2(and 4)-benzylaminophenols, 4(and 2)-amino-2(and 4)-m(or p)-hydroxybenzylaminophenols and 4 - amino - 6 - chloro - 2 - p - hydroxybenzylaminophenol. The compounds of the invention are prepared by reacting a 2:4- or 4:2-aminonitrophenol with benzaldehyde or hydroxybenzaldehyde and reducing the resultant product. Specifications 684,592 and 714,412 are referred to.
