1375049 Alkyl dialkylphosphinates FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 10 Jan 1972 [8 Jan 1971] 1047/72 Addition to 1334365 Heading C2P The invention comprises the preparation of compounds of formula (wherein R<SP>1</SP> is C 2-22 alkyl and R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are each C 1-22 alkyl) by reacting (H) (R<SP>2</SP>)PO(OR<SP>3</SP>) with a C 2-22 α-olefin containing less than 0À002 wt. per cent of sulphur, in the presence of free radicals (which may be generated by peroxy compounds or U.V. radiation), and preferably at a temperature of 130-250‹ C.
