Abstract

The 5-o-sulphobenzoate, 5-b -sulphopropionate and 5-b -sulphostearate of ascorbyl-6-palmitate are prepared by reacting ascorbyl-6-palmitate with the appropriate acid anhydride. The 5-o-carboxybenzoate and 5-b -carboxypropionate of ascorbyl-6-palmitate are similarly prepared, the acylation being carried out in the presence of a trace of zinc chloride.
