Abstract

960,672. Printing machines. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK A.G. HEIDELBERG. Aug. 9, 1962 [April 21, 1962], No. 30502/62. Heading B6C. Gripper bars 3 on a pair of endless chains 2 passing round sprockets 1 transfer sheets between couples in a multi-colour rotary letterpress printing machine, the impression roller of one of the couples being shown at 20. In order that the sheet may be properly registered each gripper bar as it approaches an impression cylinder is located in relation to the cylinder by guides 6, one of which is positioned adjacent to each end of the bar. Rollers 4, 5 mounted at each end of the gripper bar are urged into contact with the corresponding guide 6 by means of a roller 19 carried by a bell-crank lever 8. The bell-crank lever 8 is pivoted to one of the sprockets 1 at 7 and is biased by a compression spring 10 towards rotation in a clockwise direction about the pivot 7 so that when it engages between the rollers 4, 5, as shown, the latter are urged outwards against the guide 6.
