A gripper oscillating system on sheet fed printing presses, which is controlled by a cam 10 on the impression cylinder 8 of the press is characterized in that an arm 20 which is secured on a shaft 1 of the system carries a roller 21 which, during a part of the revolution of the cylinder when a sheet is picked up at a feed table 7 is adapted to roll on an arcuate segmental surface 22 rotating with the impression cylinder to produce a tension in an adjusting train 11, 12, 13, 14, 1, 20, extending between the roller and the control cam. The roller 21 contacts the segment 22 to arrest movements of the arm away from the table.
