Abstract

1390941 Stencil-printing apparatus HEYER Inc 16 June 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 28448/72 Heading B6C A rotary stencil-printing apparatus comprises a stencil-bearing drum 44 with internal inking means, an impression cylinder 46 with its ends journalled in indepenedntly pivotable brackets with biasing means which urge the cylinder towards the drum, feed rollers 40, 42 and papersensing fingers 416 carried by a shaft 412 bearing catches which engage with the brackets to hold the impression cylinder away from the drum. As the drum rotates during printing a cam causes the impression cylinder to move cyclically towards and away from the drum. If a sheet is fed by the rollers 40, 42 the shaft 412 rotates under the pressure of the sheet on the fingers, and the catches are moved clear of the brackets, so that they do not interfere with the movements of the impression cylinder. Failure to feed a sheet, however, causes the impression cylinder to be kept clear of the ink-covered stencil on the drum.
