An eccentrically mounted offset cylinder 50 is tripped in relation to a forme cylinder 51 and an impression cylinder 52 by mechanism actuated by a bell-crank 33 moved by a cam 3, which. is coupled to a rotating gear 6 by action of a cable 25. Initially, a member 15 is held stationary by a catch 18, which is released by the cable 25. The member 15 moves under the force of spring 31, roller 13 and an attached pawl moves into a recess in gear 6 to link the cam 3 to the gear 6, whereupon the cam 3 and the gear 6 relate until the member 15 is arrested by engagement of a bolt 17 on the member 15 with a catch 40. Alternatively, the catch may be moved laterally out of the path of the bolt, e.g. following an interruption in the supply of paper, and the offset cylinder 50 and inking rollers tripped by rod 39 are moved repetitiously by the rotating cam 3 in such a way that there is no transfer of ink from the offset. cylinder 50 to the impression cylinder 52.
