Abstract

958,121. Windscreens. L. C. A. M. BIGNON. July 22, 1960 [July 24, 1959], No. 25640/60. Heading A4F. A windscreen wiper has a pair of parallel blades so close together that, if one blade is lifted from the screen by the air stream over a windscreen it still shields the other blade from part of the air stream, the blades being so mounted that a movement of one blade a short distance from the windscreen produces no consequent movement of the other blade. The blades 10, 11, Fig. 1, may be carried by arms 8, 9 pivotally connected by pins 3, 4 to a common rotary head 5 on the driving shaft 14. Springs 6, 7 press the arms 8, 9 towards the screen. Alternatively the wiper arms are connected to separate rotary heads which are coupled to a common driving mechanism. In a further construction two blades are connected to a common wiper arm.
