545,989. Windscreen wipers. ACROTORQUE CO. Dec. 17, 1940, No. 5277/42. Convention date, Oct. 5 Divided out of 545,916. [Class 138 (i)] In a windscreen wiper of the kind in which the wiper arm is attached to a shaft which is oscillated by power means to swing the wiper in an arcuate path across the windscreen, the blade 23 is pivoted to the wiper arm about an axis 24 perpendicular to the surface 22 to be wiped, and an auxiliary arm 27, pivoted to a fixed part of the windscreen frame at a point 28 displaced from the pivotal axis of the wiper arm is connected to the wiper blade by a sliding connection 26, and is pressed by a spring 30 so that it presses the blade against the surface to be wiped.
